Well we've all seen Hibbert be dominant and do a good job defending other big men on TV but how will he fit into the NBA? Firstly I'd like to point it he seems to consistently get into foul trouble, that needs to slow down it hurts georgetown early in games when he has to sit for the entire first half. He seems like he is a late lottery pick in this draft. So the question is how good really is Hibbert. I believe that he probabely will be staying but imagine that he is entering the draft. The true test for Hibbert will be guarding Oden in tommorow night's final four. I can see him going anywhere from 9th pick to 15th. He also seems as though he could fit into the NBA nicely, where do you think Hibbert will go and how will he transition to the NBA?
Well, I'm a big Georgetown fan, but I definitely think some mock drafts are overrating Hibbert. Lately, I've seen him in the 5-7 range, and I think that would be a mistake if someone took him that high. I think Hibbert should be taken in the 9-14 range, late lottery, if he even comes out. I heard that he wants to stay for another year, but who knows? Scouts and money talk. But I think it would be best for him, personally, to stay for his senior year. Jeff Green, on the other hand, is ready to come into the league, and he should be taken in the lottery as well. Hibbert is impressive, and I love the guy, but I think he probably should stay for his senior year. If he does decide to come out, I won't be like "Oh man, he just made a big mistake" but I think it's in his best interest to stay. He needs to work on his conditioning a bit, I don't know if he's ready to handle that long NBA schedule right now, and he needs to make some improvements defensively. But how do I think he'll do in the NBA? I think he will be a Zydrunas Ilgauskas type of player (I love that comparison, by the way). He'll be Big Z without the 15 foot jumper. He will probably be a starter in this league, a very solid one. Not a star, but very serviceable. He's obviously huge (7'2''), he's a very solid rebounder, he can block shots, and he really does have a nice post game. It's much more polished this year than it was a year ago. He'll be a very solid player, but again, if teams take him where mock drafts have him right now, they are making a mistake.
Hibbert is definitely IMHO the most overrated player in the tourny right now. Physically he IS big. But mentally he isn't there yet. He consistently gets into foul trouble, isn't a great scorer, and has a hard time rebounding even though he towers at 7 feet tall. He also doesn't run the floor as well as a lot of NBA centers do now a days and he just doesn't look like he's in great physical or mental shape.
Personally I think there is way too much hype around this guy.I don't see him being more than a 10 and 6 guy in the NBA. He's got height, sure. But what else he got? Anything? Not really. He's an ok shot blocker and rebounder, but not beyond decent. He's an ok scorer but the talent of NBA defenders is way surperior to college. Lots of NBA big men are only there because they make a living off of defense and hustle. He would get eaten up in the NBA right now and I know he has potential but I just don't think he could ever gain enough skill and finesse to be an effective scorer. Just watch tomorrow - can he even compete against a guy like Greg Oden? There is no way. He's just way too over hyped.
The one thing which you shouldn't argue about is that Hibbert has talent and the physical capabilities. The question is that is he a smart enough player to make a name for himsel fin the NBA Imo. I can never see him being a powerful offensive C however I can see him having prescence in the low post on both sides of the court. His test will be playing tommorow against Oden.
I'd take him anywhere 5-10. People don't realize that Patrick Ewing was not an offensive threat really when he was at G-Town..that's like Hibbert. He can develop his O.
I see him going late lottery just like CB32 said. He is a very big body, and he has pretty decent footwork as well. I love his game on the defensive end though...He doesn't let anybody get a dunk on him...He protects the basket very well. He is so big at 7 foot 2, and probably at least 280 pounds. I think he will be a pretty solid NBA player. He just needs to learn how to stay out of foul trouble.
