UPDATE: Barcelona's season ended Tuesday after winning the ACB Championship and that means Rubio will travel to Minnesota soon. Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune tweeted: "Expect Rubio to arrive in Minnesota early next week for official introduction -- probably Monday -- even if his season ends today." Rubio reportedly signed his rookie contract on May 31 and now he just needs to work on his buyout with Barcelona, which is now down to $1.4 million. The Wolves can pay $500,000 and they will do that to help out Rubio. ---- Multiple media outlets, including the Associated Press, are reporting that Ricky Rubio, the No. 5 pick in the 2009 NBA draft, did reach an agreement with the Wolves by the May 31 deadline and he will join the team next season. Rubio had a massive buyout with Barcelona the last two years which prevented him from signing with the Wolves. By signing the deal prior to June 1, the Spanish point guard locked himself into the current rookie-wage scale. Had he signed after July 1, he would have fallen under the new collective bargaining agreement, which may be more restrictive. Rubio's signing means the Wolves will definitely put point guard Jonny Flynn, the No. 6 pick in the 2009 draft, on the trade block. Kevin Love is happy to hear that Rubio will be playing with the Wolves next season. "Ricky Rubio huh? I'll believe it when I see it... Just thinking about pick and rolls...goodnight ... Pick....N....Rolls," Love tweeted Wednesday night. The Wolves are not expected to make a formal announcement of the signing until Barcelona's season has finished later this month.
