David Kahn has already denied it. Rubio's dad said they're still working on a buyout. This guy, Charlie Walters, is known around here for being very inconsistent for his insider info. I don't think this one is legit.
Even if it's not legit, I wouldn't be shocked if he does stay in Spain for another couple years. I think the only way he comes to the NBA next year is if the TWolves trade his rights to a team in a bigger market. If he does come to the TWolves, they need to part ways with Johnny Flynn, because there's no way a Flynn/Rubio backcourt is ever going to work.
It wouldn't make sense to trade one of them now. They're both still unproven commodities. Put them in a platoon situation and find out which one's better, then trade the other one. I think he could come over this season, but I doubt it. Most likely he'll play out his contract and come over. I don't think Minnesota has to worry about him bailing on them, because he's yet to show any indication that he's unsatisfied with his new team. Usually when that's the case, you start hearing rumours about other European teams courting the player but that hasn't happened.
i bet in 2 years when his contract is up he will.. hes not under contract by the timberwolves.. they just have his rights basically... so if he were to ever play in the nba he would have to deal with them first..he could still just as easily go sign with a different euro team tho...
If he want's to play in the nba he'll get it done. Until he figures that out for himself we have telfair and telfair 2.0 in flynn. Rubio will be here if he can make it happen financially. I think that's the only issue.
