Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay(notes) was injured for a good chunk of last season and only got to watch as his teammates made it all the way to game seven of the Western Conference Semifinals before getting booted from the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now Gay may be watching the Grizzlies from a much further seat this coming season. ProBasketballTalk's sources tell the site that the Cleveland Cavaliers are "exploring some sort of deal" for Gay.

ProBasketballTalk notes that "Gay continues to be discussed in trade rumors despite management's insistence he is not available."

In the 54 games he played last season before being injured, Gay averaged 19.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He's spent his entire five-year career with the Grizzlies.

The whole Gay situation is confusing. Coming into the season, he was the best player on the team next to Z-bo. Unfortunately for him, he got hurt, and he had to watch from the sidelines as the Grizzlies had a remarkable playoff run. Now, they're fans that want to see him back on the team because they think he'll come right back in, click, and do damage with the team and watch them be a contender in the West. But, then they're fans that think he'll mess up the team chemistry and don't think him and Z-bo will mesh well. Me? I want to see him back next season.

grizz went 13-2 the last 15 games before mayo went out, you can always have more talent, and to get rid of him for pennies on the dollar would be foolish
