Anthony "Rumble" Johnson lost a controversial referee stoppage against Kevin Burns at UFC Fight Night 14. In the fight, Burns poked Johnson in the eye three to five times, the final time causing Johnson's retina to detach and forcing him to tap-out. Johnson had emergency surgery on his eye following the fight. Referee Steve Mazzagatti called a halt to the fight and awarded Burns the win by TKO--a decision he later regretted and apologized for. Johnson appealed the decision to the Nevada State Athletic Commission but his appeal was rejected. To make good, the UFC has scheduled a rematch between Johnson and Burns at the upcoming TUF 8 Finale in December.

so the athletic commishion screwed Johnson by not overturning it, but at least Dana and the UFC have the wisdom to let them fight it out again.

That was some BS in that fight, Johnson was winning that fight no doubt about it, and Steve Maz screwed it all up by awarding Burns the fight off of an illegal move. Nothing against Burns, but no way he should have won that fight.

Mazegatti admitted afterwards he made a mistake, but the NSAC wouldn't overturn the decision.
