I just heard on the radio from a fairly trustworthy news reporter that Favre may be hanging up his cleats this afternoon. This was unconfirmed, but the buzz around Washington with the various reporters is that this is a bona fide story...

I'll let you know if I hear anything else. Has anyone else heard this?

Boy, I would hate to see Favre's last game be a shutout loss to the Bears. My stomach is turning at the thought of it.

I'll lose a lot of respect for him if he does. Since he's started the season, he needs to finish it. No bailing out after one game. If this rumor turns out to be false, then I would like to beat the person who started it to a bloody pulp. I'm that sick of Favre retirement rumors.

Now that I have had a minute to think it over, perhaps the rumor is true. Perhaps Favre went home and couldn't sleep and decided to surf the web. I bet he saw one of the new Packer heavy NFL Forums ads, clicked on it, read PackAttack's signature and it was more than he could take. I bet that's it.

Well, I heard this in the car from Mark Rosen whose been a sports anchor here in the Twin Cities for years. He is currently in Washington along with all the national media and said that he was told this by a few people that he really trusts.

He DID emphasize that it was an unconfirmed rumor. My guess is that Favre said something that was overheard by a reporter. We'll see, though.

Really? IF Favre is in the game you can count on at least 2 picks?

Yeah if Favre decides to hang it up now(which I doubt) I will definatly lose alot of respect for him.

I'm with Dale on this one. Going down in history as a cheater one thing, but a cheater/quiter would be extra pathetic.

I think at this point in his career and what he has around him its not to far fetched to say he will do what he did last season minus some TD passes

I think what drove Favre to possible retirement was learning that Pack Attack was born in Rhode Island

I seriously doubt that he would retire now, I mean he has been saying all along that he thinks this team has a chance to surpirse alot of people.
