The Oakland Raiders are preparing to release quarterback JaMarcus Russell but have to await the final word from owner Al Davis before they can do so, according to sources. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5141392
Apparently he looked like "arguably" the best QB at camp in the first day of this weekend's mini camp but then reverted back to his old self for the last two days. Jason Campbell looked head and shoulders above the rest (Gradkowski couldn't suit up though due to injury). Granted, I'm also reading that the other 3 QBs- Kyle Boller, Charlie Frye, and someone who I can't tihnk of right now- also looked terrible. With Jason Campbell a virtual lock to win the starting job and Gradkowski a clear number two I can't see us paying this fatass 9+ mil to stick around. I'd be satisfied with a paycut and have him ride the bench but I don't see a ton of ope for him. Even disregarding his stupidity and lack of instincts/awareness hes just not accurate and can't complete elementary NFL passes.
