Tiquan Terrific

Junior WR Tiquan Underwood had one of the best receiving days in BIG EAST history August 30 vs. Buffalo. The Lawrenceville, N.J., native set a new school single-game record with 248 receiving yards. He surpassed Jack Emmer's 13-catch, 237-yard performance on Nov. 16, 1966 at Holy Cross.

After finishing the 2006 season with 23 receptions for 290 yards and four touchdowns, he has 34 receptions for 675 yards and four touchdowns in 2007.

Underwood needs just 52 receiving yards to move into 10th place in Rutgers single-season history.

Underwood set career-highs in receptions (10), yards (248) and longest reception (66) vs. Buffalo. He hauled in a 65-yard pass for his first touchdown of the contest in the first quarter and a 66-yard TD reception in the second quarter against the Bulls.

Another First in RU History for Underwood

Underwood is the first player in 138 seasons of football at Rutgers to record four consecutive games of 100 yards receiving to start the 2007 season. He surpassed Bill Powell, who achieved the feat on three-straight occasions from 10/3/98 – 10/24/98.

    On This Date

Rutgers is 9-6 all-time on Oct. 18, including six straight wins on that date from 1890-1947.

The Scarlet Knights have six shutouts on this date.

The game vs. USF marks just the second time in Rutgers history the Scarlet Knights have played a BIG EAST game on Oct. 18.

    Running vs. the Bulls

Ray Rice has done something few running backs have done since the start of the 2005 season - run for 100 yards vs. the USF defense.

USF has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 14 consecutive games - and just six players have rushed for 100 yards in a game vs. USF since 2005.

Rice is the last player to run for 100 yards vs. the Bulls with his 202-yard performance in last season’s 22-20 victory. Rice is averaging 180 yards in two career meetings vs. USF. He is the only player since 2005 to have two, 100-yard games vs. USF.

Even more impressive, in 31 career games, Rice has 18 100-yard performances.

    The Judge

Senior PK Jeremy Ito became Rutgers’ all-time leader in scoring and field goals in 2006 to cap off one of the best seasons in school history by a place-kicker. Ito, who hit two game-winning field goals vs. USF and Louisville, was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award in 2006.

In 2007, Ito was named a Preseason All-American by Playboy Magazine. This season, Ito is 9-for-12 in field goals and a perfect 28-for-28 on PATs. He is perfect from 40 yards or under this season, going 8-for-8.

He is second among active players nationally in career field goals (66) and second in scoring (335).

Below is a list of where Ito ranks in Rutgers and BIG EAST history in several kicking categories:

    Category (Total) RU BIG EAST
    Career Field Goals (66) 1 2
    PATs (137) 1 10
    Scoring (335) 1 3

    Here Comes Courtney

Junior FS Courtney Greene has been a starter in all 30 career games he has played in at Rutgers. The New Rochelle, N.Y., native has become one of the elite defensive backs in college football.

Greene, known as one of the hardest hitters in college football, is second on the squad with 44 tackles.

Greene was one of three New Rochelle HS products in the starting lineup vs. Cincinnati and Syracuse, joining Ray Rice and Glen Lee.

    True Freshmen on the Field

Eleven true freshmen have earned playing time for the Scarlet Knights in 2007:

LB Manny Abreu (Union City, N.J.); CB Brandon Bing (Wyncote, Pa.); RG Anthony Davis (Piscataway, N.J.); DE Justin Francis (Miramar, Fla.); DE Jonathan Freeny (Margate, Fla.); DB Joe Lefeged (Germantown, Md.); LB Antonio Lowery (Miami, Fla.); DB Colin McEvoy (Hillsdale, N.J.); RB Mason Robinson (Somerville, N.J.); TE Fabian Ruiz (Miami, Fla.); DE Alex Silvestro (Gibbstown, N.J.)

    Joltin’ Joe

True freshman free safety Joe Lefeged is quickly becoming one of the most feared hitters in college football. The Maryland native posted his first two career sacks vs. Syracuse, including a forced fumble on Syracuse QB Andrew Robinson at the end of the first half to force a turnover. Lefeged had a career-high six tackles in the win over the Orange.

    Bell Ringer

Jean Beljour has been one of the team’s top special teams players in 2007 - while also earning a starting assignment at fullback vs. Syracuse. The senior from Hackensack had two big hits on special teams in the win over Syracuse, while also paving the way for Ray Rice’s 196 yards on the ground. Beljour is second on the team with nine tackles on special teams this season.

    Welcome Back Pete

After missing the first three games of the season with an ankle injury, junior DT Pete Tverdov has played well in his first two games back.

Tverdov has 17 tackles from his nose guard spot in three games, including a career-high eight stops vs. #20 Cincinnati.

    Firsts for Freeny

True freshman DE Jonathan Freeny earned his first career interception and fumble recovery in the 38-14 win over Syracuse. On the season, the Florida native has three tackles and four quarterback hurries.

    Sack Attack

Rutgers posted a season-high five sacks vs. Syracuse, including two from junior DE Jamaal Westerman. Westerman is now tied for 10th in Rutgers history in career sacks with 16.

This will be a big game. It'll be close imo, Rutger is a pretty good team, and I'm not sure if S.Flordia is for yet.

A lot of people are calling for this upset. I just don't see it. Rutgers hasn't shown me enough offensively

    Take the under.

Rutgers needs to control the ball. Their defense is good enough to slow down USF.

This is a game for Ray Rice to put his team on his back and show he is an elite player.

Agreed. Ray Rice needs to get the ball like he did at Syracuse last week for Rutgers to win.

Rutgers picked the wrong season to be good and lose two at home. Instead of reaping the fruits that USF is now, they're unranked.

Teel looks like Teel, what a surprise

Hell of a call for the fake punt, but then RU couldn't punch it in from close. Jabu looked lost when he wasn't able to just run straight ahead.

If they don't call that an intentional forward pass on that, I give up. That's so blatant.
