"Whoever is making the statement against conf champions, is making a statement against the SEC."

Supposedly, "He's not out lobbying for himself, he's lobbying for the good of the game."

More like for the good of his own conference.

    Whats that? That sound?

It's the sound of hypocrisy, arrogance, and maybe a sliver of fear :V

That he's against a Conf. Champ model and not a "Best 4" model because he thinks the other conferences will get too greedy.

Says the conference who has won 6 of the last National titles. He's clearly saying that in order to get 2 SEC teams in, rather instead of won.

I will grant that the SEC may be the best conference currently, but to automatically assume their top teams are always the best and are the only deserving teams to play for the Natty is baseless to me. Beating up on non conference high school teams at home (similar to what UO is doing this year) and then working thru a conference schedule with 2 or 3 tough opponents (like all other teams in major conferences do) somehow makes you better than any other team in the country is wrong thinking. And the pampering the SEC gets in the media tells me the system needs to be changed to stop such pampering.

To me, team earn their way to the Natty by winning their conference, having a solid record, playing at least one quality foe in non conference and working their way well enough through theirs. Getting the chance for the playoffs is more for your body of work and not just because you play in the SEC. A couple of years ago when UO was kicking the crap out of Tennessee at Tennessee in front of 100,000 highly partisan fans and 3 time zones away where was all the media then? They had their heads in the sand.

I believe only 1 team per conference should be allowed in the 4 team playoffs. There may be some obvious exception one can think of, but aside from those, this notion of the media coronating that conference is stupid.
