"The Buffalo Sabres have been playing well, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are on a completely different level. They came to town with wins in 11 straight games, making Sidney Crosby and his mates the talk of the NHL. Their visit Saturday night was a challenge the Sabres were anticipating. After the Pens hit the road with a 5-2 victory -- their 12th straight -- it was clear how the Sabres performed on their test. "Obviously, it's a fail," Buffalo defenseman Mike Weber said. The Sabres' hot streak came to an end at the hands, feet and sticks of the NHL's winning machine in sold-out HSBC Arena. The Penguins scored two goals early and added three more in the third, dropping the Sabres to 3-1-1 in their last five games. "We weren't good enough in the little areas, which they were. It just proves they're a team that's going really well right now," Sabres right wing Jason Pominville said. "You look at their goals, a couple of them were just throwing pucks around the paint and hitting a foot or hitting a stick. For them to be able to get those goals, they were there and they were fighting for position. That's the little things, which we saw tonight makes a difference.""
