92-82, Jazz win! Harpring had to be the MVP of this game...he was consistent all game long. He had 24 points and 13 rebounds...the Kings announcers were very complimentary of him the entire game. They also sounded optimistic about the Jazz's chances of rebounding well next year... Memo was solid as well with 21 points and 12 rebounds. This might have been a blowout if the Jazz would have converted better on their free throws...they were just 22-34 from the foul stripe (65%). McLeod made some key plays down the stretch. He split the defense and made a tough layup while being fouled late in the 4th right when the Kings had some momentum. He also got to the foul line a few times down the stretch by just attacking the basket. If I recall correctly, he made most of those free throws down the stretch. Giri was alright...played a team high 40 minutes and had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. This game was pretty signifcant to the Kings too...they're on the verge of a 50 win season and were aiming to get a winning record on the road for the 5th straight season. They were not able to accomplish either of those things tonight. They finished with a 20-21 record on the road this season...although they still have a chance to get the 50th win. It may not seem like a big deal to some...but to the Kings fans and the Kings organization, it's a big deal to get 50 wins. That's basically they're benchmark for a successful season, especially since they've had trouble getting to the Finals. My point being, this was a very significant game to them...it wasn't meaningless by anymeans. So, I'm glad the Jazz were able to ruin that for them. This was the first time in 5 years that the Jazz beat the Kings in the DC! Glad we got that monkey off our back. Overall, I was pleased with this game. Sure, they were sloppy at some points in the game, but what the heck we got the win anyways. I'll take that anyday...especially with the way this season has gone.
Nice post, calijazz . The Jazz played well on the defensive end in this game, the Kings shot just 36% from the court, and shot only 1-13 from 3 point land. Utah outscored Sacramento 52 - 26 in the paint. Matt Harpring played great. He had 24 points on 10-15 shooting from the floor, 4-6 from the line. He also grabbed 13 rebounds, 4 offensive. Over the last 5 games he is averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game. For the season he's averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds per game. Mehmet Okur had 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. He has been putting up some impressive numbers recently. Utah's starting backcourt, McLeod and Giricek, combined for 10 turnovers. However Giricek had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 40 minutes. Kris Humphries played 26 minutes, the most off the bench. He had 8 points, 7 rebounds. In 30 minutes, Jarron Collins managed to pick up just 3 points and 2 rebounds. This was Utah's final game of the season at the Delta Center.
