Sagna: Don't Rule Arsenal Out Of Premier League Title Race Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has claimed that it would be wrong to rule out the Gunners as potential Premier League champions at this stage of the season. Arsene Wenger's side were comfortably beaten by Chelsea on Sunday, leading many to opine that this might yet be another season of domestic disappointment for the Gunners. Sagna concedes that he and his team-mates were second best in the 3-0 defeat, but he also thinks that Arsenal can still close the 11-point gap between themselves and Carlo Aneclotti's powerful team. "It was like our match against Sunderland, we could not really create any opportunities," Sagna told L'Equipe. "The absence of [Robin] Van Persie has weighed a lot, we have to find a solution. "Now we can't fool ourselves, the gap was too large between the two sides. Chelsea were stronger. They were better in the challenges, possession of the ball, passes. "Last season we got a lot of points against big four teams but we failed against some 'minnows'. "But we missed our match. There is a lot of disappointment. "Anyway, we can't remain focused on that, otherwise we could sink lower. "We have a postponed match that we must win. Then, the situation could quickly change."
It will take a stroke of luck and a run of straight wins to get close to threatening for the title again -- A couple of Chelsea losses would be needed, too.
