With people comaplining about the quality of hip hop...and arguing with me about Lil' Wayne [IMG] I hardly ever see a thread just about a genuine artist...I was kind of late myself...and you always hear about the rapper thats supposed to "bring back" NYC...but this dude has a chance to be great....does anyone hear check for Saigon? The whole "bring back" concept is stupid. By definition, "bringing back" a state is to bring success back to the state. The only realistic way to do this is commercially.

I agree, all I care about is the music.

Elaborate please. A.F. Venom mentioned bringing back NY and I said that as a rapper who doesn't rap about commercial stuff, it's damn near impossible to bring back a state to the mainframe of rap. For example, the West Coast was the place which had most of the success when Tupac and Death Row were in their peak. Unless he's another Tupac, I doubt he'll make NY the mainframe of rap. Right now, the South are having the most success in terms of popularity and album sales. There's nothing I'm reading too deep into at all.

Apart from all that, of course he has a chance to be great, but so does everyone. Papoose was meant to be "the next big thing" and we're still waiting on an album. Personally, I believe he's better than Papoose from the tracks that I have heard. The only problem is going to be creativity. It's hard to stay creative and not focus on the same material, especially if you have success and you are no longer living the lifestyle anymore.
