It appears that Missouri State might have been robbed at the end of Monday night?s one-point loss at Saint Louis.

Saint Louis won the game 51-50 on Ian Vouyoukas? tip-in as the horn sounded. The shot was waved off by officials as late, then counted after a two-minute viewing of Mediacom television footage.

But an in-house video feed from Scottrade Center, obtained by MSU director of basketball operations Trevyor Fisher, showed a different ending. The video, with the game clock from above the basket imposed on the screen, clearly showed :00.0 before the ball left Vouyoukas? hand. The red light behind the backboard was on.

Mediacom?s clock on the final sequence apparently came from a scoreboard from somewhere on the upper level of the arena. Mediacom officials had no comment, said play-by-play announced Don West.

Now the bad news for Bears? fans: The loss will stand.

?Nothing can be done relating to outcome of game,? Missouri Valley Conference commissioner Doug Elgin said. ?The officials made the right call based on the information they had.?

After viewing the in-house video for the first time on Wednesday, Bears coach Barry Hinson shook his head. ??It shouldn?t have counted but ... we move on,? Hinson said.</div>

That's tough news for MSU. On the video I saw, he clearly tipped it with 0:02 on the clock, but this is the first I've heard of a different clock. I was looking for a discrepancy between the red light and the clock, a la Providence/Texas a couple years ago.

It's too bad they couldn't have just gone to OT; those are two evenly matched, solid teams.

This incident is horrible for Missouri State, who has a very good shot of making the tournament this season. The replay that I saw clearly showed that the Saint Louis player didn't tip the ball in the basket while the clock was running. This team got screwed over big time last year when it came to selection time, and they got screwed over again in this situation.
