<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Every year at Christmastime, Nick Van Exel becomes Old Saint Nick. It's a strange transformation, because on the court, Van Exel has some strong Grinch tendencies, even bears a passing resemblance to that villain of book and film. "People don't understand," said the Grinch who steals passes. "There's two Nicks -- basketball Nick, and the Nick who has a son and a family. I got a little attitude out there on the court." Wednesday afternoon, the nice Nick loaded his SUV (sleigh, urban version) with toys and goodies and hit the 'hood. First stop was an apartment not far from the arena where Nick's Warriors play. A single mom and her nine kids had no inkling they were about to receive a visitor. Van Exel and some elves from the Warriors' offices stacked presents near the front door, then Nick knocked and walked into the apartment with arms loaded, a smile on his face in place of the familiar Nick the Quick scowl. "It was great, man," Van Exel said a little later. "It was unbelievable, actually." </div> http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c...SPGSE3U3E81.DTL ========================== What a class act. Its always nice to see the "other" side of Nick the Quick.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Skip:</div><div class="quote_post">Good for him man, it's always good to see celebrities giving to those who really need it.</div>Yea, especially a guy like Nick who has the reputation of being "Mr. Bad Boy". Gives the fans a real look at the real Nick.
Great charity, how come there isn't a race majority in that pic? lol jk NVE is great, he gives to the Warriors, and he gives to kids. Wonder if Sheed did this his rep would go up?
I've had a problem with some of Nick's comments and actions in recent history, but I can't take anything away from his humanity. Good for him, he's continuing to mature as an individual and as a team leader.

But like I said, its nice to see the other side of Nick.
