With the 58th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, a second-round pick, the New Orleans Saints drafted Nebraska cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste. It fits a theme of the Saints trying to build up a dominant secondary. In the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft they drafted safety Kenny Vaccaro, and in free agency signed Keenan Lewis. This year in free agency they signed Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd and cornerback Champ Bailey and have definitely placed an emphasis on their secondary.

It looks like the Saints are trying to build what the Seattle Seahawks have in their secondary.

“Look, (the Seahawks have) got a fantastic secondary,” Saints head coach Sean Payton said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “We’ve had a chance to see it firsthand. But I think it was trying to fit what we’re doing. A year and a half ago, starting before last year’s draft, we made an effort to really put a high value on size, and we’ve been able to do that defensively.”
