Saints agree to deals with Chris Horn, WoodardBy Len PasquarelliESPN.comThe New Orleans Saints added veteran depth at two positions Thursday, reaching agreements with wide receiver Chris Horn on a two-year contract and defensive tackle Cedric Woodard on a one-year deal. The financial details of the contracts were not yet available.Horn, 28, is no relation to Saints standout wide receiver Joe Horn. Like the New Orleans star, though, he began his career in Kansas City and played three seasons with the Chiefs before hitting the free-agent market. Chris Horn became free to sign with any team when the Chiefs declined to make him a restricted free-agent qualifying offer, which would have allowed them to retain a right of first refusal. In 28 games, including three starts, Horn has 33 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown. He had a career-best 18 catches for 187 yards in 2005. The former Rocky Mountain (Mont.) College star, who began his professional career in the Arena Football League and also played in the NFL Europe League, will probably be the No. 4 wide receiver for the Saints. He is also a strong special teams contributor, as evidenced by 24 tackles in three seasons. Horn has good speed and should be a solid fit for the passing game being implemented by first-year coach Sean Payton.Woodard, 28, was on the New Orleans roster for the final five games in 2005 but was inactive for all of those contests.A six-year veteran, he spent his first five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and, as recently as 2004, was a full-time starter. The former University of Texas star joins an already well-stocked defensive tackle pool but will provide the Saints a deep rotation. He will battle veteran Willie Whitehead, who re-signed with the Saints last week, for the No. 3 tackle spot.A sixth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, Woodard has 111 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 60 appearances, including 28 starts. He is a wide-bodied tackle whose forte is defending against the run.Len Pasquarelli is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.
