"Sam Demel said he couldn't have picked a better place to make his major league debut. With family and friends looking on, the Diamondbacks' newest reliever entered Wednesday night's game at Fenway Park in the eighth inning and tossed a perfect inning. Not only did it happen in ballpark ripe with history, Demel said his wife, one of his best friends and the host family he stayed with when he was a college prospect in the Cape Cod League all were on hand to see him pitch. "That was awesome," he said. "It was cool to be able to share that with them." Entering the game was the hard part, he said. The actual pitching, it turned out, wasn't as tough. "More so with jogging out to the mound, that was the craziest part of it," he said, when asked whether he was nervous. "But once I got on the mound it was more of a comfort than anything else." Demel came in right after the lively Fenway crowd sang "Sweet Caroline" and while they were chanting "Beat LA," a nod to the Celtics' game the following night." http://www.azcentral.com/sports/dia...0618arizona-diamondbacks-sam-demel-debut.html
