After three months of being questioned about a much-hyped quarterback competition that hadn’t even started yet Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith finally got on the field Friday for the first practice of Jets training camp and got to provide some answers — positive ones apparently. Sanchez worked with the first team as expected saying he isn’t even considering the possibility of losing the job but is confident enough to help Smith at every turn because it’s the right thing to do. Smith went turnover-free stayed on the field working long after practice had ended and left coaches and teammates impressed. “I don’t think [he looks like a rookie]. I’m seeing a guy that ... you see it out there” coach Rex Ryan said. “He can throw it with anybody. I don’t know about anybody but he can throw it with most. I know one thing — he can throw it. He’s got a really live arm there’s no doubt.” Sanchez completed eight of 11 passes and was sacked twice during the team portion of practice the incumbent not seeming at all worried about the presence of his rookie competition. - See more at: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/sanchez_has_no_backup_plans_OXR6CG9o6ujKiC8MMUZIrN
