<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said he has been told by Flip Saunders that Saunders doesn't have any interest in coming back to coach the team, even though he does have a year left on his contract.

"I had a talk with Flip, and he apparently he wants to move on and doesn't want to be considered for the Timberwolves job," Taylor said.

Meanwhile the Lakers have asked Taylor for permission to talk to Saunders, as has another West Coast team Taylor didn't want to name.

Taylor said the Knicks have not contacted him for permission to talk to Saunders, despite a report to the contrary in the New York Post.

Taylor said the Wolves had a number of people apply for the coaching job, including all of the current Wolves assistants. However, the Wolves owner didn't think there would be a decision made on hiring the coach for at least 30 days.</div>

Who would actually think that he'd come back? Minnesota slapped him in the face when they fired him like that. Management often confuses me. First with the Lakers and Phil Jackson, and now with the Timberwolves and Flip Saunders? [IMG]

I agree, VC. Was their even the slightest bit of expectation from Minnesota fans/staff that Flip may be willing to return? After all, it was proven for sure that their poor play was not his fault, as they weren't very strong late in the season (or at least not strong enough). Flip worked hard there, it wasn't his fault that his team is overloaded with "star" offensive players who couldn't maintain chemistry over the course of only 2 seasons.

Yeah, why in the world would he want to return to a team that sent him packing.

There's plenty of guys out there that can make a run at like McMillan, Paul Silas, and Phil Jackson to name a few.

Maybe I'm out of the loop, but since when is Nate McMillan available? He has been tearing it up in the playoffs with the Sonics and could be named Coach of the Year. Why would he want to go to Minnesota? Were you talking about a different McMillan?

Well, with the whole Flip situation, I think the firing of him may have been for the better. At first, I freaked out because of how long Flip was with us and how successful he was. I don't think all of the blame can be put on him, but I think a new face will do this team good. Which is the reason why I want Paul Silas. Flip, at times, can be too soft and too nice to the players. Silas can be the same, but Silas is also a coach who is not afraid to discipline players and show players who really is boss. Flip will be missed because of how successfull he was here, but I think a new face is needed.

Oh, I thought McMillian hasn't been given an extension yet by the Sonics?

I don't think he was been given an extension yet, I think VC was just saying that since McMillan has had such a successfull season coaching the Sonics, that he most likely would not want to come here to Minnesota.
