For some strange reason I decided to watch the first episode late last night as I had kids that grew up with that show.. Didn't even make it half way through as it was bad, bad, bad.

I liked the original Saved By The Bell as a kid, but this looked awful just from the trailer. A lazy cash-in on nostalgia.

Holy crap, I couldn't even make it past the intro. The acting is incredibly bad and the script is insultingly dumb. Like, was it written by 6th graders?

Worse--a bunch of executives trying to triangulate how to appeal to "the kids" while also hitting older Millennials with nostalgia. The attempts to lampshade this ("Wow, are you sitting on a backwards chair? I've never seen anyone do that in my lifetime") are embarrassing. That doesn't sound like a high schooler talking, it sounds like a 60-year old trying to sound like a high schooler.

I do like how they have the transgendered kid, which is nice to include everyone and not use it (I'm referring to the subject as "it", not the person as "it".) as a joke. In the original run, that subject would've been a "special episode" of the show, and then never seen from again. But there was a few things that the dialogue of the interaction between the cast was just sooooo painful to listen to. I'm kind of glad the rest of the series you have to pay for, because I don't want to give them any of my money for that Donald Trump of a tv show.

The only reboot that was actually okay was Roseanne. Then she went off her rocker
