Schaub Focused On Texans Camp, Not His Contract

    "After missing six games in the regular season and two in the playoffs, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub says he is so fired up about training camp that nothing will distract him, including his contract situation.

    Schaub, 31, enters the last year of the six-year, $48 million contract he signed in 2007 when the Texans acquired him from Atlanta for two second-round draft choices.

    The Texans are expected to wait until after the season to work out a new contract with Schaub, who has no intention of playing anywhere else.

    "I absolutely want to be back," Schaub said Tuesday during an appearance at Fire Station No. 8. "It's important to me to finish what we started here. I want to remain a Houston Texan for the rest of my career.""
