Man, I gotta watch that hunk-a-cheese one again. Anything with a stupid catchy jingle. Bought the DVD set yesterday and the kids wore it out today. Christ. One thing I never noticed before is how much right wing morality are in those cartoons. "Three is the magic number" has this line: "A man and a woman had a little baby--there were three in the family, and that's the magic number" WTF? So if Dad knocks the crap out of Mom and she leaves him, she's the bad guy for breaking up the "magic"? And how's a second kid supposed to feel about that lyric? "Hey, Timmy, you're the non-magical family member."
Based on the previous thread, I would've thought that keeping the family at one child apiece would be part of the liberal side.
And lest you think Schoolhouse Rock was all fun and games, they made a thinly-veiled tribute to white people conquering and pillaging the entire continent of North America:
Man, that made me hanker for this oldie-but-baddie: It was a pretty effective jingle. I still think of it today when a waitress shows up with my salad swimming in a mayonnaise-bland ranch dressing.
I like the obvious symbol that when they are on the river, as they move along the land appears. But nothing was there until the great white men came.
I bought the Schoolhouse rock dvd set for my kids a few years ago. I am pretty sure I enjoyed them as much as they did.
