What are ya'lls thoughts on Scoop Jackson? He used to be a writer for SLAM Magazine and now writes for espn.com and ESPN magazine. When i used to read his stuff in Slam, i thought he was a pretty good writer and did a good job capturing the story. Now that i can read his stuff on espn.com and watch him on Cold Pizza (among other shows) i feel he is full of sh*t. I really dont think he knows his stuff. Every time they ask him a question concerning a prediction, he's wrong. Is it just me, or is he full of sh*t?
Scoop Jackson is the man.I love just listening to him speak and his opinions.I dont feel like hes quote "full of sh*t" i think hes absolutely right about things he writes about not to mention hes a kobe fan and not a hater like some writers.Besides that Scoop Jackson knows basketball and i like what hes says and writes about. As far as bad predictions idk i havent really payed much attention to his predictions.
I loved reading Scoop's pieces in SLAM, and I was really sad to see him leave for ESPN, but his stuff on ESPN is still really good and I try to read as much of it as I can.I haven't really been able to catch him much on shows like Rome Is Burning, etc., but the few times I have been able to catch an episode he is on, I think for the most part he does a good job.
I never read his SLAM stuff, but on Cold Pizza is he full of shitaki mushrooms. He is always arguing with Woody Paige and Woody is usually right, meaning he is wrong. Like you said pj, his predictions are almost never right.
He knows alot about about past stars, and he is a pretty good writer. He does say stupid sh*t alot though when I read his columns on ESPN.com.
I used to love his articles, but then I realized:- He is a major racist- He only has positive things to say- He is obsessed with rapHe said Dallas wouldn't make the Finals, now they are probably going to win the NBA Championship. How did he cover it? By making references to rappers.***hole
^I already had the privilege of posting that quote like a month or 2 ago. Then I just read a couple days ago he compares Antoine Walker to modern day James Worthy and after those reading those two bits of information, I think he's a dumbass. So I'm surprized by all the positive remarks about him.

So I'm surprized by all the positive remarks about him.</div>I have no idea how you got the idea that Scoop was saying that Walker is the modern day version of James Worthy in that article... he was simply saying that Walker was in the same position as Worthy in Riley's offense, and needed to bring what Worthy brought to those Lakers teams. He needed to take the pressure off Shaq and Wade just like Worthy took the pressure off Kareem and Magic. He didn't say that Walker IS the modern day Worthy... he simply said Walker needs to play LIKE the modern day Worthy if the Heat are going to win the series.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He didn't say that Walker IS the modern day Worthy... he simply said Walker needs to play LIKE the modern day Worthy if the Heat are going to win the series.</div> And that's a joke of a statement by Scoop Jackson. I don't get why your trying to defend that, but your last sentence of him saying he needs to play like a modern day Worthy is where I take it as a joke. Walker will never play like Worthy, ever. Maybe I overemphasized on what he was saying, but the metaphor is terrible.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>And very subtly, his contributions -- overlooked by everyone -- were the reason the Heat led 63-62 at the end of the third quarter.</div>From Scoop, I guess he didn't realize Mavs had the lead after 3 quarters, 70-68.
I'm not trying to defend it... I was just pointing out that I really didn't understand where you drew your interpretation of that article, and I was just clarifying what he was trying to say.

The guy has no idea what he is talking about. He bases his opinions like a casual NBA fan would, strictly on how big the name is, or how many points a person scores.
