Saw this on rip city Reddit… apparently Dame and Scoot were training together yesterday - Scoot posted this to his story yesterday, judging looks like via FB - but I can’t keep up with the apps. Anyway, never made a thread here but this seemed potentially thread worthy, won’t be offended if there’s not much to discuss but thought this was awesome and I figured most would miss it within another thread. Happy Saturday Rip City!
Thanks for the post! Good to see what Scoot is focusing on. I’d guess Scoot will be working out with someone else for D.
I think it's important to remember that Dame was mostly just a shooter to begin his career and had to adjust between his rookie and sophomore season to be a better finisher around the rim. Obviously Scoot needs a lot of work on both but nice to see him getting some Dame Time.
This is cool cause whatever he might have felt about how he left he will always be a Blazer at heart and when he gets in the HoF he will go in as a Blazer -- period
This was brought up in another thread but agree that is is worthy of standing alone. Good to see. With Dame having business and his kids here in Portland, I would imagine all the Blazers are invited to practice with him. We hear of practice games during the summer and doubt this area is a hotbed for them. Might get a few stars coming out because of Nike.
I think its probably more like the Gym is always open for Dame, so if you are in there practicing he could drop by any time. I wonder how much he actually works with Scoot Vs him being there to focus on his game. This doesn't look to be a practice session with any coaches, but an Open Gym. No doubt they played 1v1...Right? That would be fun to watch, and definitely think Scoot could learn a thing or two from playing 1v1 vs Damian Lillard.
I saw footage of dame boxing and hanging with a rapper in the Caribbean just recently. I hope he connected with Scoot but I don’t think he’s in Portland now and Scoot works out in Atlanta I believe at his family gym
It would do a world of good for Dame, Scoot and the franchise if they develop a mentor relationship. Until we get more on that front, you could be totally right in that this was more of an “open gym” situation. Still, whoever orchestrated Scoot being there is what was important. The pg transition alienated so many fans (who were really Dame super fans) and Scoot has received some added pressure/pessimism as a result. Impatience may be a better theme.. As someone who loves this franchise and both of those guys, I see it as a crucial step to repair/heal some of that hurt and confusion on all sides. On an imaginary note, Scoots baseline skillset plus added skills from Dame’s bag is a scary mf.
