Bo Pellini has been fired today, after 7 straight 9-win seasons. Scott Frost QB'd the Cornhuskers to the 1997 national title, and is highly regarded by Tom Osborne and the Nebraska faithful.
If the Ducks win the conference championship game and their offense shows well in the playoff, I think Frost is gone.

could be though I'm pretty sure that Oregon's coaches contracts prohibit them from speaking with other potential employers until after their season is over... thats how it was for Kelly. That would be tough sledding for Nebraska's recruiting as Frost would have about a month to gather a staff and assemble a class.

regardless, if so congratulations to Frost and next man up for the Oregon coaching staff. I'd guess Lubick would be their man

With Carrington, Allen, both Browns, Baylis, Stanford and Ofodile coming in next year, having Lubick as the next O coordinator could be really fun to watch!

BTW- When Frost was playing for Nebraska in 1996 and lost two games, he was booed off the field at home. In 1997 they went undefeated and won the national championship! His dad played for the Huskers, Frost was born there and so on... This in fact may be Frost's dream job but this fan base is still living in the Osborne era for sure! I don't think the Huskers will be relevant again, 85% of their recruiting base is within 900 miles of their school, their state of the art gym is now two decades old, and it's freaking cold and boring there when football season is out. Oregon is just about to take off, Nebraska has already landed and turned their airport into a Denny's!

I'm sure at some point Frost will be a great head coach but I fear the nostalgic feelings of what was once the Husker Nation may mar a really great up and coming coach by a school that no longer knows how to compete. If I were Frost I'd take the Florida job before Nebraska for resources and recruiting.

Nebraska needs freshness. Frost would light a spark for them IMO, he would bring positivity, a winning attitude and fun to a program that is in the dumps (for their standards). Nebraska is a sleeping giant (Like Notre Dame before Brian Kelly) and all they need is a push, Frost could be that push.

If Frost gets the Nebraska job, he should donate his first paycheck to the charity of Mariota's choice.

Agreed! Frost will have a tough time out recruiting at least 4 teams in the Big 10 and he'd also have to get the school and boosters to invest back into updating their facilities to be relevant again. The question is will Nebraska give him the time to build a winning philosophy there? Judging by Pelini, I'd say no.....

I'm still stunned. Riley had the BEavers as high as #6 two years ago and he bolts for Nebraska where expectations are unrealistically high?

    Yeeeesh. Poor guy

WOW!!!! I think Riley saw the writing on the wall, alumni were getting tired of losing, yet just like the Beaver Nation, no plan they can afford is in place! They could always bring back Erickson... :smiley-smirk:

On the other end of this deal must be sitting some very perplexed Husker fans!

Interesting--Now people are saying that Frost might be interested in following Riley to Nebraska to be offensive coordinator/head-coach-in-waiting. Along with the rumors of Ed Orgeron possibly coming in as defensive coordinator/recruiting guru, that would be quite the staff.

If he does go, I wish him well, and thanks for the efforts here, but IMO this probably turns into a bigger paycheck for Frost, like it did with Coach Neal and UAB.

Except Nebraska isn't shutting down their football program any time soon...
