He missed four games due to an injury, but he was healthy Monday and not only didn't start, but didn't play. 'From a coaching standpoint, we have told him what we need him to do and what he needs to work on,' Scott said. 'The NBA stands for National Basketball Association, but it also stands for No Babies Allowed. It's a man's league. You have to be a professional about your position and what you have to do to stay on the court and get playing time. It's that simple.' Smith has struggled of late, contributing one or fewer field goals in six of his last eight games, but said he didn't feel any extra pressure to practice harder or differently." </div> Source
JR Smith could be the next Kobe, thats how much potential he has but he needs to take in everything he can learn from these great coaches, and veteran players around him. Once his defense gets better and he becomes more consistent he'll be a player to be reckoned with.

Right now JR is getting by with his athleticism and jumping ability. He has no fundamental skill whatsoever and if he doesn't think he needs to work any harder he's cheating himself out of a great and long career in the NBA.
Good on Byron. I hoped playing with CP3 would have had a positive impact on JR but obviously he's still struggling with his immaturity. I'm confident they've taken the right approach with him.

Tuesday, the last time the Hornets practiced, Smith was one of the first players off the court when practice ended. </div> damn thats really messed up, first one off the court, no wonder hes not playing, i thought he was injured again... its times like this he needs someone to teach him to work hard.... man if i had the chance to be in the nba and have a free gym to myself 24/7, i would set up a table and order chinese for lunch, connect a refregirator and live in the gym like gilbert arenas thats what i would do, work my butt off to get as much better as i can.... and right now im not even on any teams and im still playin in the park everyday, i dont think j.r. has that much love for the game man i hope he will change his attitude, i'm a big j.r. smith fan since his hs days, saw what he can do in mcdonalds all american but damn i didnt know his attitude was like this, he dissapoints his fans
It does make you wonder about his desire, but we can't forget he's still a kid in an environment suited to tough pros.
J. R. has got to remember that every time he steps on the court in the NBA, it's third and long and he's got to play his heart out. It's just not as easy as he must think it is. I'd hate to see this kid wash out in NO. He should learn from his friend Chris Paul. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. I'm still confident he will be there to help the Hornets fight for the 8th playoff spot.
