Scottie Pippen? Personally I feel the guy is washed up. I don't really see what more he has to offer, except to mentor, and provide some leadership to this young team. Personally, I see Aaron McKie part 2, if we do sign him. But either way, he's most likely going to Miami, the land of washed up veterans
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Personally, I see Aaron McKie part 2]</div> Brian, How can you compare one of the top 50 greatest player of all time to Aaron McKie? I would take Scottie Pippen any day over, McKie, Sasha, Smush, or any guard in our Lakers squad besides Kobe. I'll guarantee you that he will play better defense with one leg than all of those guys I just mentioned. Its time for us trade McKie and give Scottie a ten day contract. I would do it.
How old is Scottie? I would take him over McKie or Williams any day of the week. Don't get me wrong. I never said I didn't want him on our squad. I would love to have him on our squad, but I don't expect him to produce much at all. Again, how old is he? I just don't think he has enough left in the tank to be a difference maker
Pippen is 40 years old. At one point he was doing some assistant coach work to help out Lamar Odom. I'm sure he'll be linked to the Lakers, Spurs and Heat. I wouldn't mind the Lakers giving him a look, he said he's in the best shape he's been in over the last 5 years and Pippen has a high basketball IQ. Having him around would give them a player/coach to help point things out on the court, and maybe Odom would benefit watching how Pippen moves around within the Triangle offense. I'm sure Pippen could give this team a solid 8 to 10 minutes per game.
^^^^ Not only that. He knows the offense like the palm of his hand. I would definitely see him coming to LA.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I thought Pippen is 41?</div> You're right he is 41. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I'm thinking of trying to come back for the playoffs," Pippen said. "Something like the last two months of the season, somewhere I can come back and play limited minutes to start, play point forward for someone and build toward the playoffs. It's something I've been thinking about for the last three months."</div> He can be the Ron Harper veteran player for us. I'd trust Pippen out there in crunchtime making decisions than I would Smush.
Lol, he can't be much worse than Lamar Odom (who I will give some credit...he played a decent game against the Cavs...still only had 3 assists and had 4 turnovers). I'd take him in a heart beat.
I was expecting to see a ridiculous trade scenario involving Garnett. But seriously, Scottie Pippen? Players like Pippen, Kemp etc. always say they are in the best shape they've been in since ____. What could he produce? 3 PPG, max?
It's a lot more than what he'd bring statistically. He'd be the only person on the team that knows what it takes to win, outside of Kobe. He'd bring a hell of a lot of leadership and experience to a youthful team. And maybe, just maybe if Odom isn't traded, he could actually get Odom motivated.
Source Here's the thing...Pippen's considering coming back and signing with a team for the playoffs so he can help win a championship. I can definitely see Scottie coming to L.A. because of Phil Jackson and because Scottie knows the Triangle like the back of his hand (or hope he still does) But, Scottie and Kobe aren't the best of friends, in fact, these two usually go at it on the court. Who knows though, maybe Pippen at 41 years old can still be some good on defense and as a veteran for this young Laker squad and his offense might still be there. Pippen says he's in the best shape he's been in five years, which is a really good sign if he signs with the Lakers. After all the talk of Lamar being Kobe's Pippen, how about Pippen being Kobe's Pippen? haha Discuss!
wouldnt he go to the bulls? i mean the way we are playing, it doesnt really look like we are anywhere near a championship
I would think it's either gonna be Lakers or Bulls, cause he'll be participating in the All Star game Shooting Stars for Chicago. But you never know, Him and Phil Jackson are good friends and it's a possibility. Look, we may be playing the worst basketball in a long time, but when Luke and Kwame get back and Lamar starts playing how he used to, we're still contenders. And we still got Kobe, anything is possible. I hope Scottie doesn't go to Chicago, but only time will tell I guess.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pip wants to play point guard for a "contender" and seemed intrigued by Cleveland (which has an open roster spot) as a possible destination. </div> Source Looks like he is interested in the Cavs.

Anyways, we'll see what happens. I really don't think he'll go to Chicago though, and I really hope he doesn't go to Miami either. Come to Lakers, Scottie.
No problems man, the original thread was horribly named and had no mention of the Lakers, Pippen, or a comeback. I should've edited it earlier.
