Saban & Mueller have been more than patient and honest in their dealings w/ he and his agent. If he and his agent think they can soak Miami for more $ then take your greedy, shallow, mercenary attitude and go to NOLA. K. Carter, Zach, & Jason Taylor can restructre but why should they to accomodate If they think N'Awlins is a better deal and/or franchise then I say off you go to the crescent city. If Drew signs w/ the Saints then the one positive is Cutler may fall to 16, but, I highly doubt it . I am a bit irritated can you tell?
I'm not all that crazy about Culpepper as a phin. I'd rather Saban sign Josh McCown or trade for either Ramsey or Matt Schaub.

To take their only legit QB, and leave them loaded at RB.

I meant Atlanta. Saban, thankfully, is not Wanny. Provided the donkeys don't beat the dirty birds to the punch.

Brees went for the cash....his wallet is a little thicker, and hes gonna need the extra padding, cause hes gonna get the hell kicked out of him in NO....and I thought his strength was his decision making....have fun swimming from your house to the practice facility, winning 5 games a year, and cashing that nice check every friday afternoon....

That really stinks if your a Packer fan.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'>Any reason your so cold on Culpepper? Is it just the knee, or is it something else?</div> For me, his partcipation on the Love Boat and his refusal to accept responsibility makes me wary of him. Culpepper tried to dodge responsibility by point fingers at members of the boat staff and that doesn't cut in with me. Someone else doing wrong doesn't absolve you of your wrong doing in my book. He had a chance to step up and be a leader in Minnesota and he failed. However, the knee injury is a huge deal for me as well. I hate the thought of giving up a 2nd round draft choice when I know he shredded his knee and I'm not hearing reports that he knee is better. What I want to hear is that he will recover.
Ok...he will recover. The reports that we were hearing up here is that he is progressing very nicely and is ahead of schedule. He's already doing footwork drills which is pretty impressive. I personally think he'll be ready about 1/4 of the way through the season. About not taking responsibility, I've heard that a lot from people, but you have to realize that there are legal implications here. Locally it seems that there is no end to prosecuting athletes. The people up here love it. If you ever catch an athlete doing something remotely suspiscious you can guarantee that it will end up in court. For Culpepper, admitting that he was there would probably result in a guilty verdict for not only him, but the others accused. That being said, there is reason to believe that there is more to the story than anyone is letting on. For example, why are the women not being prosecuted? There were plenty of non-athletes on that boat who were apparently participating in the 'festivities' - why aren't they being charged? You should really be ecstatic. Culpepper has been a leader of the Vikings since he arrived and he has not been a cancer at all. The stuff happening in this past year is way out of character for him, and I think his strong history with the team speaks volumes.

For starters, New Orleans isn't under water, it hasn't been for months now. Yes, i do take that offensive, don't talk about my city like it's in ruins. Our practice facility is considered one of the best in the league and it sustained no damage from the storm. Secondly, Drew Brees may have came here for the money, but it's not like he didn't like what he saw on paper. Let's not forget last year was a bad year for the Saints due to a hurricane keeping them from their state of the art practice facility. Any proffesional team that has to practice in a parking lot for a year is going to have troubles. We still have McAllister, Horn, Stallworth, Brown, Hilton, Mayberry and Karney on offense, and a strong possibility of drafting Ferguson. I think that's enough to make a QB happy. Don't take shots at my city cause you didn't get your way, that's immature.

Grant will be back to his 2004 form and Will Smith will be starting, which will show everyone in the league that he is a top DE in the league. A.J. Hawk or Ferguson. Anything other than that is just plain dumb. We don't have Haslett anymore, remember that.

He's really nothing to rave about in my opinion. Every reliable source is reporting that it's going to be Mario Williams or D'Brick. I think they take Williams. Most important position on the field on offense to build around QB! They got Drew Brees. Most important position on the field on defense to build around. DE! They can get Mario Williams. Williams and Smith would be maybe the best young duo in the game at DE. He could also move inside to DT on passing situations. A better pass rush instantly makes your secondary look better and takes pressure off your linebackers. They can build the offense around Brees and the defense around Williams. Too me that's a great start in turning things around if your the Saints. They could shop Grant around for a player or pick as well. Of course I would love for them to pass on Mario Williams so the Packers can take him at pick #5 but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
Disclaimer: I was not all that pleased about Miami acquiring Brees or Culpepper. My preference was Brees but it became obvious that greed was the major motivation for Mr & Mrs Brees Its been stated that this is really a one year deal which is ironic when you consider how CHEAP the Saints franchise truly is. After all, its more economically viable to trade for Ricky then pay all those draft picks. Still, NO drafts Duece who has been incredibly cost effective. I will go out on a limb and theorize that they did not get value for the 2 #1's they got when they sent RW to Miami. Nick made the right decision. Appearantly, they felt squeamish about the state of Drew's sholulder. Why have a Feidler redo? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>Brees went for the cash</div> It would appear that avarice was Drew's motivation. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef)</div><div class='quotemain'>and I thought his strength was his decision making....</div> Isn't Purdue supposed to be a top flight academic institutions?. I guees their finance dept is better than the philosophy/logic dept. I know I will accused (rightly or not) of taking shots, so here goes.... I can safely say that the Saints are & will continue to be like the 'phins were - perpetual underachievers. Payton took Parcells advice to get a veteran QB. 10 or so years ago that may have carried some weight but its not like Tuna has had much success in big D. Its so much easier to rehash some might have been then take a risk and focus on the future rather than the past. The Saints could've signed Testaverde you can't get more veteran than that or underachieving for that matter. Bottom line; NOLA & wind do not go together whether its Hurricane Katrina or Drew Brees.
