"For once, the right words escaped Pete Carroll.

The Seattle Seahawks coach was asked a fairly complex question about the team's newest addition, Wisconsin offensive guard John Moffitt, whom the Seahawks selected in the third round with the No. 75 pick in the NFL draft on Friday.

But as Carroll, laughing, struggled to comprehend what was being asked, general manager John Schneider stepped in to offer a rather definitive assessment of his new lineman.

"The guy's an ass kicker," Schneider said.

    Ah. OK, then.

Moffitt - all 6-foot-4, 320-some pounds of him - seems to fit the Seahawks' stated vision of what an offensive lineman should be. They already made a statement on Thursday about where they've placed their priorities, using the No. 25 overall pick to acquire Alabama offensive tackle James Carpenter, another guy who team personnel described as "nasty" and a "road grader."

So after Day 2 of the draft, the Seahawks already seem to have answered some key questions about how they're going to assemble their offensive front. Tom Cable, the team's new offensive line coach, said Moffitt will play right guard to begin with, meaning the Seahawks' starting line will look something like this: Carpenter at right tackle, Moffitt at right guard, Max Unger at center, left guard currently up for grabs, and last year's No. 6 pick, Russell Okung, at left tackle."
