<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Sean Payton might have had the toughest coaching job in football this season, making his selection Saturday as The Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year that much more impressive.Payton, in his first year as a head coach, didn't just lead the New Orleans Saints to a 10-6 record, the NFC South championship and a first-round playoff bye. He helped revitalize a battered city's spirit.</div>Eric Mangini finished in second with 3 votes, Marty Shottenheimer recieved 2 votes, and Jeff Fisher got 1 vote. Payton recieved far more than all of them combined with 44.

I thought he would win it. It's amazing what he has done with the Saints offense. They got Brees and Bush, but no one expected the Saints to be this good this quickly. They have very little great defensive players also

I think most people are rooting for the Saints. I really thought that the job Fisher did with the Titans would gather up more than just one vote, I really liked him as my coach of the year. His team didn't make the playoffs or anything, but he did an outstanding job with a team I thought could not win more than 4 games this season.

I can't believe he got 44 votes out of 50, thats insane. I thought Mangini and Fisher woulda pulled at least 10 total from him, dang.

Sean Payton and the Saints had a great season. With the passion and everything that team was playing for, he deserved it. Getting 44 votes is pretty impressive. If only Cowboys would have rehired Sean Payton instead of that biggot

Will Smith and Charles Grant form one of the better 1-2 punches at DE in the whole league. Brian Young is a solid DT...the linebacks are very very average with Fujita and Simoneau...Mike McKenzie is a solid CB, Fred Thomas is pretty decent as is Stoutmire. The secondary can be pretty shaky but the pressure they get from the DE's helps a lot. They were lucky they had such a great running game with McCallister, Reggie Bush is already one of the best recievers in football and they lucked out with Marques Colston. Jammal Brown and Jon Stinchcomb are both solid tackles and the guards played consistant.

I knew he would win it, but I thought Mangini should have won it. What he did with the Jets was just amazing. They have a legitimate shot of taking out the Pats tomorrow.

The Jets prepare as well as anyone and get as much of their roster as anyone. They already beat the Patriots once this season so it should be interesting.
