<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dwyane Wade is a Daniel Horton fan. And a Chris Quinn fan. And an Antonio Burks fan. Vincent Grier and Robert Hite, too. Any of them, really. The Heat's starting shooting guard would love to see at least one of the Heat's five young point guard prospects emerge as a legitimate option come the regular season. That way Wade won't have to relive his days as a point guard while regular starter Jason Williams is rehabilitating from knee surgery. ''That's something I'm already saying to them,'' Wade said. ``I was telling [Horton] that when I first came in my rookie year I had to guard those little guys. And I don't want to revert back to that. We've got some guys that are capable of doing it.'' Heat coach Pat Riley is also hopeful that he can find a reserve point guard from the group he has in camp. With Williams expected to be out until mid-November, and Gary Payton's 38-year-old body no longer capable of consistently playing 40-plus minutes a night, the Heat desperately needs a third point guard to handle some significant minutes, at least early in the season. Of the Heat's five options in camp, only Burks has NBA experience, having spent two seasons playing sparingly with the Memphis Grizzlies. Riley seems prepared to take as much time as needed to make a decision, while also keeping an eye on any outside players who become available. ''We have some pretty good players in here, and I think in 30 days we'll see which one is the best that will definitely make the team out of this group,'' Riley said. ``They all offer something different. Burks is very, very quick, athletic, a strong driver, penetrating, that kind of player. He's a bulldog on defense. Needs to work on his outside shooting, obviously, but he never got any consistent, significant minutes. ``Daniel Horton is almost the same kind of player. Chris is just an incredible shooter. Doesn't have the same game these other guys have. ``It's a great opportunity for them.'' Ideally, one of the five youngsters will emerge, but Riley has other options should that not be the case. Other than Wade playing point guard, Riley could have Antoine Walker and Dorell Wright manage some of the ball-handling duties. But that option still leaves defending the opposing point guard unaddressed. The four rookie point guards have been with the Heat all summer, but the true challenge began Tuesday with Day One of training camp. ''You've got to keep up with everything and just keep moving,'' Quinn said. ``These practices, two-a-days and everything, can take their toll, but we've been working out, some of us, and it definitely helps coming in here in pretty good shape.''</div> Source
