<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What a difference a couple of years makes. Take a look at Kelvin Cato's statistics from the 2003-04 season and compare them to his 2001-02 campaign. The numbers are nearly identical with the exception of his field goal percentage, which was markedly higher in 2001-02. Two years ago while the Rockets were on their way to a miserable 28-win season, Cato was vilified by the local fans for his perceived lack of on-court effort or intensity.

This season he seemed to come alive under new coach Jeff Van Gundy, chasing every loose ball and rebound with reckless abandon and showing the type of effort that Rockets fans had expected to see since Cato joined the Rockets in 1999. Although his final numbers weren't overly impressive for a starting power forward, Cato's value as a physical presence was made evident during a stretch in late March-early April in which the Rockets dropped seven of 10 games while he was on the sidelines with an injury.

What do you think about Cato's season? He was kind of the guy in the background for us all year long, but he did manage to have a pretty good season. Has his relationship with JVG suffered?

Btw, I personally think it's great that rockets.com is doing a review on every player. [IMG]

I loved Cato's play this year...he was a beast inside defensively and always brought a sense of intensity and energy on the court...while he is severely limited offensively, his work on defense made him valuable, plus he is a great screen-setter and team player...Him and Yao make for an incredibly imposing frontline defensively, altho I am sad to say that I think he will be gone next year...

I liked Cato's play alongside Yao in the frontcourt, but I cringed every time he missed a 5 foot-jumper. We need someone who can score like Taylor and defend like Cato. The search for a good PF continues...[IMG]

I used to hate Cato last season (02-03), because he always subs for Yao, no matter Yao is playing good or not. But this year, i like this guy now, he help defensively, and his ally lop from francis is awsome. Like what trip saids earlier, we need to get a good PF with Taylor's offense and Cato's defense, the first two likely ones comes out of my head are...Rasheed, and Eton Brand.

lol yea together Cato and Taylor = Brand or Rasheed, lol true.

I liked Cato, I think he really brought a lot of intensity and toughness out on the court, and he was always trying.
