Jason Williams can be erratic, turnover prone and nasty, but tonight he added clutch to his list of attributes. Williams scored 15 points in the last period, including a fall away 3 pointer with a man in his face, to spark the Grizzlies to a 1 point win after being down 8 after three. Williams finished with 28 points, nailed 6 treys and added 3 assists in 35 minutes, to send the Sonics to 0-2 on a three game homestand. For Seattle, it was again the Flip Murray show. Murray had 26, 5, 4 and 3 blocks, and scored 6 points in quicktime in the last to draw Seattle level at 94, before another Williams three. Vladimir Radmanovic had his best game of the season with 23 and 8, while Brent Barry went close to a triple double with 12 boards, 8 assists and 7 points. Calvin Booth had 11 and 7, whilst Luke Ridnour hit his first NBA 3-pointer and added 10 and 5 dimes off the pine. For the Grizzlies, Williams was obviously the star. Mike Miller added 13, Lorenzen Wright had 16 and 8, whilst Shane Battier also had 11 and 5 off the bench. Two catergories stood out for Memphis; 3 point shooting, in which they nailed 10 to Seattle's 7, and an ability to score down the stretch. Overall the Sonics had the lead in the stats, and led for most of the game, but in the end it was Jason Williams and Memphis who were able to hit the key shots. http://www.nba.com/games/20031121/MEMSEA/boxscore.html Next game: vs Wizards, Sunday, Nov 23, 6pm.
Memphis isnt playing games this season... wins against LA & now Seattle to name a few. Pushing for that 8th spot for sure.
I am the biggest Grizz fan in the world, but I don't think they are ready for a playoff push just yet. I hope I am wrong but I don't think they are consistent enough. Their 3 best players Gasol, Miller, and Williams are too inconsistent to be a playoff team.
If you're the 'biggest Grizzlies fan in the world', why does it say you support the Kings as well? I don't think they're ready for a playoff series either, but neither are Seattle. It's still a nice achievement for a developing team to make the first round, even if you get swept.
that was a disappointin game for me...I'm thinking Seattle will be a close contender--9th/10th seed...and hopefully onto the playoff season next year for sure. It'd be awesome if they were one this year, but there's so many great opponents in the west!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sir Desmond:</div><div class="quote_post">They're a very talented team when they put it together, Wave will be happy.</div>Indeed I am very happy, but I was also impressed with the Sonic's performance in this game. They are performing so well without Allen that it makes me wonder how good they'll be when they get him back. If they are a top six team in the West now, I feel that when Allen comes back they will be top three. Obviously, that will also be thanks in large part to Flip Murray. Right now Murray is set to go to the All-Star game.
