Perhaps the Sonics prefer to be overlooked.

On the same day as they were ranked number 9 in both the NBA.com and ESPN power rankings, Seattle came out and watched the Heat shoot 53% on the way to an unexpected victory. The heat rode the tails of swingmen Lamar Odom and Eddie Jones, while rookie Dwyane Wade was also prominent. Miami belied their scoring average of only 82 ppg by scoring 105, including a massive 29-19 last quarter. The Sonics led after the first and third periods, while at halftime it was all locked up at 51 apiece.

For the Sonics, it was again the Flip Murray show. Murray broke his career high again by posting 31 points on 11-23 shooting, and added 3 steals and 3 assists. Rashard Lewis continued his hot/cold streak with 16 points, with 4 boards and 3 blocks. Brent Barry was his usual self with 12, 6 and 3, whilst Yugoslav Vladimir Radmanovic had 10, 5 and 5 dimes. For Miami, Odom was the star. He had 11 caroms, 6 assists and a pair of steals to go with 21 points. Jones added 20, and Wade had 18, 5 and 5. Fellow rookie Udonis Haslem was impressive with 14 and 10, while Loren Woods provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and 9 snares.

Statistics told the story in this one. Miami shot 53% to 43, thrashed Seattle on the boards to the tune of 48-30 and had more assists, more than making up for a TO count of 23, compared to the Sonics' 15. Anyway, enough said about this one.

People wrote off the Heat because they were injured, but now getting healthy they can be a very dangerous team.

    Odom, Wade, Butler, Jones, Grant...talent.

Great to see Wade play a great game...Didn't play in the 4th for some reason.I'm abit surprised how badly Caron Butler has done..Yes he has been injuried but he has been back for a few games now and has barely got past 4 points...

I'm surprised at Butler too. I think he needs to be starting to get into the flow of a game early, and with Odom, Jones and Haslem playing so well of late it's a tough line-up for him to break into.

some ppl @ my school were concerned why Sonics couldn't get past this Heat them, but I could see why...they were really working both the defensive and offensive end. Odom did really well.
