    Notes:

This is the Second match up between these two teams this season. Atlanta stopped Seattle's unbeaten start to the season at 3-0 behind some hot shooting at Key Arena in November. Seattle come into this game 1-1 on a five game East road trip, having dropped a decision in Miami but bounced back with a big win over Orlando. Atlanta are currently in the mix for a top three pick, and the possible chance of landing high school phenom Dwight Howard or Connecticut standout Emeka Okafor. Seattle continues to hang around a top ten selection mark, with rookie Nick Collison also set to play fir the first time in 2004/05. Brent Barry made his first start since returning from injury against Orlando, and tallied 25 points on 9-10 shooting, including a perfect 6-6 from downtown, adding 10 assists to his statline.

Go Seattle. Half of Atlanta is on the bench. Ray will light them up.

If the Sonics can't beat a banged up Hawks team then they deserve a top 3 pick. I'm thinking they'll notch their second win a row however. Seattle SuperSonics by 10.

    Seattle 118 Atlanta 110

In a game with more ups and downs than a yoyo, Seattle used a huge second quarter and another big game from their backcourt to overcome Stephen Jackson and the Atlanta Hawks, 118-110.

After being outscored by 14 in the first period, the Sonics put together a 43-17 second quarter that gave them a nice half time lead. Despite being outscired by nine in the third, a solid final quarter allowed them to get the win and move to 2-1 on their five game road trip. Seattle added another 25 assists to the 30 they had in Orlando, and only turned to ball over eight times. They also shot the ball at 44% from downtown, nailing 13 of their 29 attempts, in comparison to Atlanta's 9-27.

For Seattle, it was again the same three names that carried them to a win against the Magic. Brent Barry and Ray Allen combined for 51 points and 10 assists, then, and bettered that by getting 55 points, 16 rebounds and 13 assists as an explosive duo in the backcourt. Barry in particular (28 on 9-14 shooting, nine assists) was superb, nailing seven treys, while Allen notched a double double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Vladimir Radmanovic followed his strong performance in orlando by adding another 16 points from the bench. Vitaly Potapenko and Rashard Lewis had 13 and 12 points respectively, while Reggie Evans had 10 boards.

For Atlanta, it was again the Stephen Jackson show. Following up a career high 42 against the Wizards, Jackson had 39, hitting seven threes of his own, and adding seven rebounds. Bob Sura continued to be a shrewd pick-up from Atlanta, with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Jason Terry added 18, seven rebounds and eight assists.

Again it was the second quarter which opened up the game. Seattle made 13-18 shots, including seven of 10 from downtown, to really take control of the game at the half. Brent Barry had 17 points in the period. This marks the first time the Sonics have won consecutive games in nearly two months.
