Or never again... My guess is his agent is on the phone to the Eagles right now. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=txburressweaponscharge&prov=st&type=lgns
Its sad to see people make so many stupid decisions, to have to put their life on hold and career on hold. I hope that other players start learning from the mistakes that Plax, Vick, Stallworth and more, made.
The guy brings a gun in his sweats to a nightclub, accidently shoots himself when it fall . . . and gets two years prison. That there is tough sentence, IMO. Maybe they should give all drunk drivers two years prison . . . because driving a 3K pound car at 45 MPH while drunk is almost like carry a gun tucked in your sweatpants into a night club.
I was under the impression (obviously mistaken) that carrying illegally in NYC got a mandatory 3-yr sentence. Anyone else heard this, or is my memory WAAY off?
He plea-bargained to a lesser charge, I think. "Attempted criminal possession of a weapon" vs. "Criminal possession of a weapon".
Was it "attempted" b/c he dropped it? They couldn't get him for "possession" b/c it was laying on the deck?
It was part of the plea bargin. Plea to an attempt but take 2 years of prison. If he rejects the deal, they go to trial on possession, not the attempt.
it's appropriate he broke a law governing a lethal weapon, and did it in a public place - it could've easily hit someone else you need to exceed a year on any sentence for it to be even a bit meaningful. a couple of months like jr smith just served are equivalent to no time
