I'd liken it to the Mets demoting D'Arnaud last year. Let Pirela or Refsnyder play 2B for a month. Let Drew hold down SS for a month. And reassess in mid-June. Didi has a .510 OPS and a negative WAR. Let him go to AAA and try and find something that works offensively. A confidence boost alone could help. In the meantime Drew can play SS and we can try the farmhands at 2B. Any combo of things could happen during that time, so just let the results do the talking. Let guys who play well or guys who play the least shitty continue in the jobs. Middle infield help isnt out there, it's garbage throughout the league. Just need to make the best of it. RF is the spot that needs to step it up. Beltran needs to hit or sit.
Hello all. The mediocrity of this division affords the Yankees time to do some trial and error. With 2 promising bats who can play 2B in Pirela & Refsnyder and Didi struggling so badly I think a swap makes sense. Drew is no great shakes, but he's a solid glove and sadly his .610 OPS towers Gregorius. 1 month should shake out the situation. They cant just keep running Didi out there. Let him go to AAA and come back as the guy who replaces Drew instead of the guy replacing Jeter. During that time he should be down hitting AAA pitching, finding some mental clarity and confidence. If he goes down and struggles in AAA then it is what it is, a lost season for him, I'm still okay with the attempt to find a 20something for a change. Our scouts arent the only ones who had interest.
Good calls Big, team needs to make some DEFINITIVE moves that get results, welcome to the current forum!!!!!!!!
In looking at the league standings there's mediocrity all around the league. The last time I counted there was like 17 teams under .500.
