North<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Senior Bowl week started with bad weather and ended with worse as rain dampened the gameday festivities. The North didn't let that slow them down though as they got off to a great start and ended up shutting out their South counterparts 27-0. The following are a few of my very preliminary observations from the game: Just as it was all week Drew Stanton of Michigan St. and Troy Smith of Ohio St. were the two best quarterbacks in Mobile. In his ongoing battle with consistency Stanton actually looked pretty good today and garnered North offensive MVP honors. Troy Smith had a nice first drive but really went in the tank as the game went on and did not look nearly as good as he had been during the week. As expected running back Tony Hunt of Penn St. looked a lot better in game action than he did in practices and even took home overall MVP honors. Rutgers fullback Brian Leonard showcased his versatility and had a nice run after the catch for a first down. At wide receiver Jason Hill of Washington St. caught a touchdown and appeared to be one of Smith's favorite targets and Aundrae Allison wrapped up a solid week by catching a touchdown pass from Stanton as well. You have to give the guys up front a lot of credit for holding a very talented South defensive line in check, with Manuel Ramirez of Texas Tech being a prime example, although it looked like Iowa's Marshal Yanda struggled at times. Any discussion of the 2007 Senior Bowl game has to start and end with the North's defensive line which was nothing short of amazing all game long, notching eight sacks. Nebraska's Jay Moore actually had three of those and looked pretty good while his Husker teammate Adam Carriker had a very nice showing as well. Inside Louisville's Amobi Okoye just continues to impress and may have been the best defensive player in town this week while Brandon Mebane of Cal did a nice job as well. At linebacker Michigan's David Harris looked very good and blew up a screen pass to Ken Darby early in the game while Stewart Bradley of Nebraska wrapped up his week with another strong performance. In the secondary Michigan cornerback Leon Hall earned North Defensive MVP notice and I thought Tanard Jackson of Syracuse looked pretty good too. Colorado kicker Mason Crosby hit on both of his field goal attempts but I wasn't super impressed with his kickoffs like I thought I'd be. There were plenty of standouts for a North team that dominated their opponents but the real story in my opinion was the defensive line, which was outstanding. Glamour positions like quarterback get most of the headlines but the guys up front were just as responsible for this win and this team's d-linemen are going to be well represented on Draft Day.</div>South<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Gameday came and brought with it the worst weather of the week and while that was bad enough the South's play on the field was almost as bad. The following are a few of my very preliminary observations from the game: At quarterback nothing went right with Chris Leak of Florida, Jordan Palmer of U.T.E.P., and Kevin Kolb of Houston all struggling mightily. People like to say what happens in the game doesn't matter much and all three of these guys had better hope that is true. At running back Auburn's Kenny Irons showed some nifty moves and looked pretty good despite relatively modest stats. Courtney Taylor of Auburn had a nice run after the catch that went for 30 yards and Dallas Baker of Florida had a couple of catches as well while at tight end Oregon State's Joe Newton looked pretty good. The South offensive line did not look good however and while I'll have to take a closer look at the tape to name name's I can't imagine there is anyone who did too well considering they surrendered a horrendous 8 sacks. Ben Grubbs of Auburn was probably the best of the bunch though and actually earned South Offensive MVP honors. Along the defensive line Kareem Brown of Miami (FL) made his presence known while Chase Pittman of L.S.U. rebounded a bit from a poor week. At linebacker Patrick Willis of Ole Miss was one of the better players on the field, leveling Josh Wilson on the opening kickoff and notching eight tackles by halftime alone. Buster Davis of Florida St. and Tony Taylor of Georgia were solid as well. On the other hand Juwan Simpson of Alabama missed at least a couple of tackles that I saw. In the secondary both Brandon Meriweather of Miami (FL) and Michael Griffin of Texas capped off outstanding weeks with great performances in the game and Meriweather especially stood out from my perspective. Louisiana-Monroe's Kevin Payne looked pretty good as well and was active while Michael Coe of Alabama St. had his ups and downs, giving up a touchdown and also coming away with an interception. All in all the South squad probably wasn't as bad individually as the score might suggest, although the quarterbacks and most of the offensive linemen were close. Looking on the bright side though Patrick Willis and Brandon Meriweather were real standouts and I have a feeling there will be others once I get a better look at the tape.</div>http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...bowl/index.htmlBTW, How sweet are these jerseys from the North
