"It should not be surprising the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs produced one of the dullest games of the NHL season on Saturday night. After all, the players on both teams had to cope with a series of trades in the last two weeks, as Leafs general manager Brian Burke and his Ottawa counterpart, Bryan Murray seemingly staged their own race to ship bodies out of town. "Yeah, I'd call Burkie every day and say, 'Are you doing anything today?' " Murray said jokingly after the first period. "If he said no, then I'd do something." The result saw Murray show up at the Air Canada Centre with a Senators team full of players from their American Hockey League farm team and some new faces like goaltender Craig Anderson. The Leafs had their own roster upheaval which was well-chronicled last week. By the end of the night, Anderson was the story as he faced 47 shots through overtime, compared to 27 for Leafs goaltender James Reimer, to get the Sens into overtime. But do not be deceived by the number of shots. This was a deadly dull game for the most part, saved only by Anderson's heroics in the third period and overtime. The first goal was not scored until the shootout, when Jason Spezza of the Sens, the fourth shooter, managed to put one behind Reimer to win the game 1-0 for the visitors. Leaf winger Nikolai Kulemin was the Leafs final shooter and the chance for a win rolled away when he lost control of the puck.
