The New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 6-4. Starting for the Yankees was Sergio Mitre and he got the win. Mariano Rivera got the save. So this was the first time Mitre has started in the majors in a wile, huh? He looked ok even though he gave up eight hits and three earned runs in just over five innings. When the Orioles scored first I was like, oh no, he’s going to get rocked. He held his ground pretty well and has a pretty hard sinker. Robinson Cano made some great defensive plays tonight. I love his back hand flip. It’s looks pretty awesome and I love when he throws across his body to get the guy out at first. He makes it seem so effort less. How about that bomb he hit? That was nice. It blows my mind a little the Yankees are now in first place because I’m used to them being in second place all year. The Red Sox are really blowing it. That Markakis guy is a pretty good hitter. He got three hits. It’s too bad the Yankees don’t have any one great hitting behind A-Rod. It would make life much easier for him. Posada, who is a catcher, is not my idea of protection. This Yankee bull pen might be the best I’ve seen in a wile. Aceves, Coke, Hughes and Rivera. That’s a pretty formidable foursome. The Yankees were aggressive on the base pads, made some great defensive plays and had great pitching. A great formula to win. Player of the Game: Robinson Cano. He did it at the plate and in the field.
