If this doesn't make your blood boil than nothing will. You almost can't believe what you're reading.

I'm seriously wondering how in the hell they are going to pull that one off. I spent 40+ years of my life in and around the Armed Forces and never heard of such shit.

...I remember how downhearted and disillusioned my Father was when the government/VA reneged on promises they had made. Sorry, but IMO, after you've given 30+ years of your life to serving your country you should not have to face having your pension cut as well as medical care.

...the lack of respect and care that this nation exhibits for their vets and elderly is pathetic.

I'm glad you brought this one up 59, this one is hotter than hell or the dry drought fires in Caly.

Fkng Govt, fks up big time, then puts LIENS on honest hard middle class workers. One lady on the local news, got a 21,000$ re-enlistment bonus; for 6 yrs. She's lost her home, as many more Soldiers have lost theirs, some have lost their marriages, cars, live's as they once knew normalcy; no longer....

The Govt fkd up, knew about it, did nothing, and they should eat this one, without any one giving back a dime.

This IS the Govt boondoggle of red tape in-effective bullshit, bought, paid for, crooked cronie Congress, who should pay back the millions in Military Bonuses, out of their own paychecks, full of raises they keep giving themselves....

This may be a CA. problem with a Fed. mandate, yet what happens in CA, eventually happens across the Nation, or vice versa..

Sam and I made a deal, Sam has lived up to the bargain as far as I'm concerned. Never heard of any Active Duty Retirees getting cuts on their pensions. Like all others I went off of Tricare at 65 now on Medicare with Tricare backup. Never used my GI-Bill Benefits bought a house once but sold it. Having never done Reserve time I'm not sure about funding for National Guard Personnel comes from. In most instances Non-active duty personnel cannot be pension recipients until age 65. If called for deployment pay and allowances are the same as active duty personnel. I don't know where funding for Guard or Reserve Bonuses come from but if offered and paid then the sleeping dog should lie. With McCain up there in Congress I'm surprised that one got through the cracks.

Thankfully, it appears they're now ending the demands for repayment. Although this was only done after the story was released and they faced the public backlash.

I'm not sure either, tho' I do know the N.G. out here is funded by both State and Federal, (what pctgs, I don't know), ...

righto' if McCain didn't do anything, why should anyone else...
when it comes to Military & McCain, I yield, the Man is a damn fine rep of all Vets, IMO...

This just in as of this last month....
Pensions are becoming a thing of the past.

Lockheed-Martin, has announced: those hiring in after 1-1-016, shall never see a pension. 401K's, will be their retirements. I still have 2 pensions waiting, luckily.
One can receive 80% of a full pension at age 62. If one choose to wait 'til age 65, then one can draw the full pension; 100% of 'em.

Did find that the Guard is State and Fed Funded which makes sense if a Unit is deployed across the pond the control and funding would change hands during deployment. Saw an article today the Secretary of Defense has deemed that "payback operation" to be bullshit and is putting the skids to it. If one serves honorably and finishes the course they earn every "bennie" the receive. Standards of Service will Change as I experiences during my active duty time no biggie I accepted, met the changes and completed. I could cite lots of stories and facts based on my own experiences but it would require a book. We also used to say that if we related the experiences we encountered people would view us as being from Mars. Glad to see actions being taken, I still have a kinship with these men and women, and every Veterans Day I put on a shirt loaded with my "I've been there Patches" and join those who know what its like through their own individual experiences.

...^^^ Amen; isn't anything quit like a "Band of Brothers" who have been deployed, to dodge bullets in either 130+ degree heat, with the wind blowing 60 mph, if the blasting furnace of heat/wind don't get you, the sand will. Or- who can ever forget the horrors of the Jungles, warfare in the most god forsaken nations of Vietnam, N. Korea, et al.
