I just heard this today, I'm pretty pissed because of course I wanted him to go to Illinois. But, I thought for sure he was going to go to Illinois even when he said he was going to keep his options open.

Wow, wow wow. That really hurts Bruce Weber, and Gordon's staying in the Big 10. That makes for an interesting situation. Tough news for Illinois. Wow.

Yeah, there's a good chance of that happening, but from everything I've been hearing from my friends back at home (in Memphis), the media down there has been acting as if Rose is coming to Memphis.

Does Indiana want both of them though? Gordon's a bit of a tweener, and thus his NBA potential's more limited than Rose's, and so he might be more than a one year prospect, but every indication is that Rose is one-and-done. Even though they'd combine to form the most talented backcourt in the nation, it'd also be young and innexperienced. Personally, I'd rather have four years from a four-star recruit than one year from a five-star recruit.

In case you havent heard Eric Gordon had verbally comitted to Illinois. In the big ten it is an unwritten rule that you go after guys that big ten guys have already got commited. But calvin sampson hired gordon's fathers best friend as well as gordons AAU coach for odd jobs at indiana, not to mention i assumed he payed him large sums of cash, to get gordon over to indiana. I have a feeling indana will be under the same probation oklahoma is.

p.s. cant wait to go to illinois indana game, should be quite hostile.

I personally can't make up my mind about the whole situation, mostly because of the lack of concrete facts about what exactly happened. Where'd you get your info about his father's best friend and his AAU coach? I had heard that the conversations with Indiana were actually initiated by Eric Gordon, in which case, there's no reason to blame Sampson.

On the radio they had a clip of the confrence and said they had hired those guys. Im also suspicious because sampson is alrweady in hot water with the ncaa.

btw:thanks for merging the thread, didnt notice that there was alreayd one.

Did they say that he hired them before or after the recruitment? I mean, both are shady practices, but it'd still be a lot different if he hired them after Gordon said he'd explore other options.

I don't really think Sampson's problems with the NCAA are that serious. All he did was make phone calls to players, not pay them or anything. But yeah, where there's smoke, there's usually fire. I'm starting to get pretty suspicious of Sampson as well. They really should have made a stronger push at Indiana for Steve Alford. The writing's on the wall already for Sampson's firing.

And no problem, this thread hadn't been posted in for a while so it got kind of burried.
