I will be much more pissed at the Blazers if they are doing this in any way whatsoever to help make it easier, etc to fire Neil than whatever Neil did. Just let the man go and move on. Such a JV operation going on nowadays. Sell the team Jody.

Dame is not the kinda guy to go about this clandestine way to get Olshey fired. If he wanted Neil gone, he woulda told Jody straight up and it would be done without much noise (like the situation in Minny where they got Rosas out in a single afternoon). All this investigation does is shed unnecessary light on a potentially bad situation. Still not sure I get the motive. Perhaps they didn't anticipate it getting out in public.

No one is, but if you not bashing him in here as others do then you’re get shit on.
some people don’t like the way he is going out, and the narrative that Neil is to blame for everything. I am one of those. I can knowledge he has done some bad and some good. He drafted CJ, Trent and Simmons as examples. Simmons has been bailing out and finally showing his potential, and he is so young and not ever near his potential. Remember when some were saying Neil’s love for Simmons was a problem and blah blah. We still got to the Western conference for the first time in 20 years, and no matter how you want to spin it that’s an accomplishment.

He has done some bad too, and can come across as certain way to some people. And he can be at fault for not making changes soon. But then how can you blame him if say he did finally want to make changes, hence the Simmons for CJ trade, but Sixers are turning that down so nothing he can do there right. But one thing I will tell you, is this Portland media, and Canzano and Quick are just as big of a cancer if you think Neil is too, they are assholes if you think Neil is one too. Dickau and the Clippers assistant that came out, and guys saying look that’s two examples, those two came across as the bigger douche than Neil if you ask me.

I don’t like that Neil threw Stotts under the bus in particular, saying it wasn’t a roster problem. And now if we don’t do well this season or blow it up soon that comment will come back to look bad and tasteless.

But regardless, the way some posters are out for him and have a agenda against him, and a certain two posters in general, I don’t like it and I don’t like the way he is going out.

I think the only reason to investigate is to come up with facts so they don’t have to pay him due to misconduct. Nothing else makes sense.

seems like an awful lot of trouble to smear the guy and take the bad PR hit to save ~15-20 mil.

No agenda here. We all just realize he isn't the right gm for us. His personality has always been used car salesman that rubbed some of us the wrong way. It is time to move on. He won't do what we need to become contenders.

I read that number a lot later than 5 years ago...it was listed recently as a matter of fact and included owning the arena....I'm not surprised it's gone up since the real estate explosion though.
Just read that the franchise made an 8% leap this year to 2.08 billion so julius was close to the right figure....we're the 13th most valuable franchise in the league right now

Chris Mannix says Ainge is a target for future GM, but unsure of his interest.

    ugh

    https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...ld-Be-Next-Blazers-GM-If-Neil-Olshey-Is-Fired

The Portland Trail Blazers are in the midst of an investigation into workplace misconduct on the part of General Manager Neil Olshey. While that investigation is still in its early days, there is speculation it could result in Olshey being fired.

If Portland does move on from Olshey, there is an expectation that former Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge could be a target to run the team's basketball operations. Ainge retired from Boston's front office at the end of the 2021 season and has remained a consultant to Brad Stevens and the Celtics.

At this point, there is no indication that Ainge would be interested in running the Blazers front office.

Ainge is from Oregon, having grown up in Eugene. Ainge was a three-sport star at North Eugene High School. Ainge garnered first-team All-American honors in football, basketball and baseball.

I really hope it's not Danny Ainge...I think he wants to be retired...get some young blood in the front office. I'd rather see Brent Barry.

So what? He sounds like an asshole to work for and he likely violated his contract in the process. That's "cause." They should pursue it. Why pay him $10 million (or whatever) if he, as my Contracts professor used to say, was a "dirty, rotten breacher"?

Everyone here is so damn free with the Vulcan money. You don't get rich by being dumb with money. And I bet you wouldn't be if it were your money.

Don't get the Ainge love. Ainge recognizes he's an Oregonian about as much as Clyde Drexler acknowledges that he played for the Blazers for 12 years, or about as much as LMA wants to return to "finish his career" in Portland.

I have heard much of the same. Doesn't necessarily change what he said, but I think we've all grown up with people who were entitled clowns who thought they worked hard (etc) and in reality they were incompetent.

i think it is most likely also a CYA move. If they fired him without an investigation for these allegations, he could sue for wrongful termination. By doing an investigation they can point to the due diligence they conducted.

I would hate that move. Dude was the guy who took Telfair ahead of BRoy. And he has no loyalty whatsoever and clearly has rubbed players the wrong way because he sees them only as assets. Boston was as bad a Portland in drawing FAs while having a much more storied history and in a larger market.

It was pretty cool when Ainge gave Olshey shit though. Seemed like he loved the pnw when he did that.

Why pay him when the don't have to? If there are offenses which technically break his contract but were not seen as reason to risk making Dame mad...

Plus, you want to get somebody good in, and you don't want them thinking Dame will be able to fire them if he doesn't like them.

I'm not sure I buy this theory, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ran it past Dame before proceeding with the investigation.

Uh I think almost everyone would fire Neil right now if any of us had billions. But carry on
