Former DePaul freshman point guard Shane Larkin has transferred to Miami, Fla., his father confirmed on Tuesday. Larkin announced he was leaving DePaul on Aug. 6 due to an undisclosed medical condition. He chose to transfer to Miami to be closer to his family's home in Orlando, Fla. due to that condition. "With Shane's situation, he needed to be closer to home," his father Barry Larkin said. "We tried to get it done right away. We didn't want it to become a bigger deal than it already was. It was tough on him. It was tough on the family. He struggled with trying to figure everything out. "He didn't want to leave [DePaul] coach [Oliver] Purnell and his staff. He loved Chicago. It just didn't work out for him. We didn't want it to fester and for him to just sit at home and not re-acclimate into college and college life. We felt it was important to get him into a school right away whether he could play or not." Barry was unsure whether Miami would appeal to the NCAA for Larkin to be able to play this season. He said it would be up to Miami's athletic department. Read more: http://espn.go.com/chicago/ncb/story/_/id/6868276/shane-larkin-transferred-depaul-miami-fla
