The Bulls kept the same 15 players on the roster all season. At the very minimum, the Bulls will have their first-round draft pick and are likely to sign at least one free agent using the midlevel exception, which would fill two of the spots for next year. Only three Bulls are not under contract next season: Fred Hoiberg, Corie Blount and Rick Brunson. Trenton Hassell and Lonny Baxter have nonguaranteed contracts, which means they can be released without costing the team any money. Off-season agenda... Coach Bill Cartwright is expecting a crowd of Bulls to work out at the Berto Center this summer. Most of the players plan to go home for a few weeks and return by June 1. "I think most of the guys like working out there," Cartwright said. "I wish I was playing now. Our guys never change a weight. They just lift, they work out and then they get lunch every day." "The young guys and myself, we all sat down and talked," Donyell Marshall said. "We plan on being here this year working out in the summer time and coming together as a unit."
If the bulls remain at their projected draft position, 7, I expect they'll draft Chris Kaman. He's too skilled for a 7' footer to go any deeper than this. And adding Kaman would give the Bulls an insane amount of size and depth along the front-line that could dominate in the smaller Eastern Conference. Jamal Crawford 6'6 Jalen Rose 6-8 Tyson Chandler 7' Donyell Marshall 6'8 Eddy Curry 6-10 The 7' tall Kaman could also sub for Marshall and play Curry at PF, giving them a HUGE lineup. I mean, Boston's in the 2nd round of the playoffs and NOBODY on their team plays in the paint, this team has like 6 guys who can either score or defend down low. If they get average production from their backcourt, then they'll be in the playoff hunt next year. Bench Chris Kaman 7' Jay Williams Marcus Fizer Eddie Robinson Trenton Hassel Looking at this bench, I'd highly consider saving the mid-level exception in case of a mid-season injury to a key player. All 5 of the bench players listed are capable of playing 20 mpg.
That would be a Western conference type team playing in the small East. I'm not sure about Jay Williams on the bench though. I think he will be a real good PG that needs to learn how to play in the NBA. "If they get average production from their backcourt, then they'll be in the playoff hunt next year. " And they will. They have a good backcourt with JRose, JWill, Jamal Crawford, and Trenton Hassell. "All 5 of the bench players listed are capable of playing 20 mpg." Easily. And Fizer, Williams and Kaman could easily be starters. That Bulls lineup looks real good for the future.
The latest players involved in a possible trade for the #3 pick. Bulls offer Jay Williams, Marcus Fizer, & #7 pick to the Nuggets. Nuggets send #3 pick & Marcus Camby to the Bulls.
Ive never been impressde with chandler. i dont think hes gonna be anything big. hes a few injuries away from being the next marcus camby
marcus camby, ha ha ha he is done, there has never ever ever been a more injury prone player than him, he got hurt 18 seconds or whatever into his first game back last year. anyway i live in illinois and therefore get all the bulls games mainly, so ive seen chandler, and believe me he will be something big, a 100x better than camby, and starting next year, he and curry will start doing really really really well. i actually dont like cartwright too much as a coach because he hasnt played those 2 nearly enough the past 2 years, the bulls werent gonna win anyway, they shouldve just let both of them play 35 mins or more a game and get used to the nba. also cartwright always looks mad, he doesnt look like a fun coach to play for. but chandler got hurt at the end of the year, so people now forget how well he was doing b4 that, i think he avged a double double for the last 2 months. both curry and chandler are going to be great, the bulls are in a great position, i dont think id trade either of them for anyone in the league, given how young they are, i mean if u consider the future and not just the next year or two. no wait, id trade both of them for antoine walker, then the bulls will win the title this year.
i agree with snownation, tyson chandler will be a force in the nba. i've been following him since is high school days here in LA. he is a great local product. his development has been slow because he has not learned how to stay out of foul trouble. near the end of the season he really showed his potential going for 20pts and 20rebs in a few games, to go along with 5 blocks. he's still very young and will grow into his body. i think he could be just as good as jermaine o'neal, but even more athletic. right now he reminds me of a young shawn kemp (the reign man years), and is a year or two away from making huge strides. i hope the bulls can keep curry and chandler together and figure out who the starting PG will be, i prefer Crawford, but he Bulls need to finalize their decision so the 3 cornerstones of the team can finally develop.
If that deal did happen, and Camby was healthy, you have a huge frontcourt. But where is the time to play them all. It could be : Crawford Rose Carmelo Camby/Chandler/Marshall Curry
tisnley?! heck no. jay will be a very good point guard. tinsley isnt. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "olskoolFunktitude":</div><div class="quote_post">Ive never been impressde with chandler. i dont think hes gonna be anything big. hes a few injuries away from being the next marcus camby</div> Chandler will be a big deal. Like snownation said, he averaged a double double towards the end of the season. His injury was a fluke and just needed to be healed. I'm not sure that it even had anything to do with basketball, besides aggravation. Next season, with Curry and Chandler in the front court, the Bulls will be able to dominate any team in the east. Those guys just need to improve their defense (especially Curry)
