First things first for the Raptors is to get a new headcoach. <u>Possible Candidates</u> A few familiar names, like ex-Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy, former Atlanta and Cleveland coach Mike Fratello, former Golden State and Portland coach P.J. Carlisemo, ex-Sacramento coach and current Nets assistant Eddie Jordan. Darkhorses include... Current Philadelphia assistant Mike Woodson is a former college teammate of Grunwald's at Indiana, Minnesota assistant Randy Whitman is another ex-Hoosier, Rick Mahorn, a former Atlanta assistant and former CBA coach of the year, has already expressed an interest and former Raptor assistant and current Wizard assistant Brian James may be interested. College coaches include Michigan State's Tom Izzo and perhaps Jim Calhoun from Connecticut. "There are a lot of obvious candidates, it's my job to find the best person and not limit the search in any way," said the GM. It's expected current Raptor assistant Craig Neal will toss his hat in the ring and Grunwald said he welcomes that.

cant blame vince for being a lazy bastard all on lenny, vince has to take it upon himself to work hard like Kobe does, that man goes mad in the off season
raptors can take don cheaney and the knicks can get back van gundy.... or we can take wiliking who is one of the best coaches ever
i seriously doubt gundy will be the raps coach, this guy bleeds knicks he still talks about them as "we" when he's announcing

Well, if you want him you can have him! He can fuck up your team.
Yea I know that. I dont like Lenny because he doesnt push his team up to that next notch were all the other teams are.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "knicks235":</div><div class="quote_post">he's not that bad, this guy is a hall of famer</div> the guy is a great coach, he just didn't fit in well with the raps, and he had way too many injuries, it's hard to win when half your team is injured.

you can't blame VC's lack of work ethic on Wilkens. a great player motivates himself to hit the weights, practice hard, and improve their game in a new way each off-season. VC is quick to blame others for his dissappointing career and that is the reason i don't respect him anymore. i know he went through a lot of hardship because of his brother and the war or words he had with T-Mac. i think VC needs to rediscover his passion for the game or he will never have a healthy season and will never be the superstar we all know he can be.
Shapecity, It isnt Vince Carter's fault that he has been injured, no matter what his decision was. If he chose to play through his injury, his stats would be horrible and people would criticize him. The decision of him not playing was a smarter decision, I dont think I, or him would think that he would be criticized for being injured. Then he comes back, all hyped up and he gets injured again in Houston. This man was pissed off. He comes back again hyped up for the all star game, then he gets booed and i expected to give up his starting spot to michael jordon. Towards the end of the season he gets injured again. I cant even imagine how hyped he is on coming back to the NBA as the most athletic player in the league once again. It may take him a Dunk Competition or two for him to get all the respect he once had back again, but hopefully he will become the same Vince Carter as the one we all knew 2 or 3 years ago.
it is vc's fault he is injured. he doesn't work out to strengthen his body in the off-season and he doesn't do the necessary physical therapy to get his legs and tendons more flexible. it's one thing to suffer an injury by a cheap foul or rolling an ankle. those type of injuries are random and can't be avoided. but the injuries vc has can be avoided if he would make the commitment.
I agree, but you cant play when your hurt. VC is in very good shape and he is very fit, but he made the decision not to play, it may not of been a good decision. Theres a whole new season coming up just around the corner, which may be bad for the Kobe and Tmac fans because of there stats.
The bottom line is that winning dunk competitions don't earn any respect, winning games does and VC hasn't done that. It doesn't matter what the reason's are, whether its motivation, injuries or whatever it is that's preventing him from taking it to the next level, all that matter is that he's not doing it. Mcgrady's teammates in Orlando, Garnett's teammates in Minnesota are no better than Carter's and Carter plays for one of the greatest coaches in the game's history. Right now, given Carter's max contract, he is hurting his team more than he is helping it. The only way he's going to shake this image is if he regains his form from '99-'00 and '00-01 AND the Raptors improve because of it. Until he can prove he's healthy and motivated enough to do that, you might as well call him Juwan because his contract is killing his team.
