<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shaquille O'Neal missed most of Miami Heat's practice Monday because of a strained left hamstring, sparking concerns that the 11-time All-Star center may not be ready for Wednesday's season opener at New Jersey.

O'Neal missed three preseason games because of the injury, and sat out practices on Friday and Saturday. The Heat did not practice Sunday, and O'Neal was expected to be ready for Monday's workout.

Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said O'Neal participated in some defensive drills, but wasn't on the floor for 5-on-5 work.

"We thought we'd have him back full today, and we didn't," Van Gundy said. "It's a concern from the sense that obviously his health is the biggest thing, and the second thing is we haven't practiced with him in a long, long time. That obviously, in terms of our offense, affects what we're doing." </div>

    More here.

And the injuries start...lets see how much Miami fans will love him now, especially if this is a re-occuring thing...lets not let him stretch it into 3 weeks like he did with his "calf injury" last year.

I hated the trade from the second rumors started circulating about the trade happening and I still hate it now.

Last year the Heat started the season 0-7, if Shaq misses a bunch of games early on, I can honestly see us breaking that record.

If I were a Heat fan, I would of hated the trade too. YOu lost a lot of depth, and key role players...but as a Laker fan, I love this trade..but I wish you guys the best of luck with Shaq, because when he plays healthy he is the best player in teh game, but he is often injured...that is one reason I think there was turmoil in L.A...I might be stretching, but I think some players got fed up with him being injured all the time.

That's a huge loss if they don't get him in the game on Wednesday. Luckily it's against the Nets, so they MIGHT pull one out if he's not in the game. But, I'm not sure even the Nets can lose against them.

Well, Shaq is kind of like a coin. There's two sides to him and you don;t know which one you guys are gonna see more of. When he's injured, he's injured frequently though it's short term. When he's healthy, he's the most dominiating force i nthe NBA. Period.
Dwyane has to step it up with him out this season because Shaq won't be there to lean on all the time so he has to find support with players like Jones and such. I think he had it easier last year with Odom, Grant, Butler and Alston but it's time to move on. However, when Shaq is healthy and playing, I will love to watch that duo.

SVG is angry that Shaq hasn't been practicing...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Besides worrying about his franchise player's health, Van Gundy is also concerned that the lack of practice time for O'Neal has stalled the team's progress in preparation for the season.

''It's more of a concern, yes,'' Van Gundy said. ``We thought we'd have him back full today, but we didn't. It's a concern from the sense that, obviously his health is the biggest thing, and then the second thing is we haven't practiced with him in a long, long time. That, in terms of our offensive work, affects a lot of what we're going, and we haven't worked on it at all.''

O'Neal was healthy enough Monday to go through defensive drills, but did not take part in five-on-five, full court work, which had Van Gundy miffed.</div> http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/10071294.htm

I cant believe the heat gave up Alston! Damn. Anyway, I hope Shaq is healthy for the matchup against the Lakers in December. Otherwise, it will be a real disappointment.

He signed a 29 million dollar contract with the Raptors, it's pretty hard for the Heat to compete with that.
