Shaq, too big to ignore or too old to keep around?

I know this isn't the best time to be asking this, but I remember a lot of Celtics fans weren't pleased to have Shaq around at the beginning of the season. That said, we'll extend it to other team's fans too.

Would anyone prefer Shaq, as constituted, over what they've currently got at the center spot? I can think of a few teams where he'd make sense, but it drives me bonkers that Celtics fans were so hesitant to embrace him at the start of the year.

I want to know what people think of him, pipe up.

I was happy we got him, even if he's at 50% healthy you still have a 320lbs center you can throw in where no other team can really match that size.

But seriously I cannot wait till Perkins comes back then Shaq is off the bench, then you have J.O'Neal as well, pretty deep at the center position. (as long as they stay healthy lol)

I don't care about Jermaine O'Neal, not even a little. If we get any minutes from him at all, I'm pleased. Perk needs to get back, that'll be a joy. As for Shaq, I myself love having the big fella around, I think he adds a good deal to the team.

I think Shaq is a good fit for the Celtics. I think the team made a good move acquiring him.

He's great on the Celtics, but I don't think he would be a great fit on most teams.

The (national) announcers for the Bulls/Celtics suggested Shaq may be deserving of an all-star bench spot, he's been that good.

Last I checked he had a 23 PER, pretty good, but in very limited minutes.

I like the idea of his playing extremely limited minutes, and I love having him around on the sidelines, he's just fun to watch, and I'm happy to see the Celtics aren't completely hung up on the notion of 'building for the future,' when they're winning right now. That said, to what end do you give this guy multiple years? I'm not positive I want to see him on this team that long.

He's twice the player Kobe is. You can fit two Kobes inside him.
