Wait...Shawn Kemp's ONLY 36???? I thought he was atleast 40 by now...so all these years he could have been a beast or atleast a decent force in the NBA...too bad he ballooned in weight.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 50:</div><div class="quote_post">What is a 36 year old man doing with pot?</div> Um making a basket out of it
Sad to see where Kemp's career has gone. He could have been one of the best PFs in the history of the league. He and GP were one of the reasons why I got into basketball when I was a kid.
this is a guy you always wanted to cheer for but because of this and his past is the reason why nobody cares about him anymore.
This is shocking, I thought he cleaned up his act. Wasn't he getting close to signing with the Nuggets recently? That's why its surprising to see him be so stupid...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chuck:</div><div class="quote_post">There's nothing wrong with pot</div> Everyone smoked during their teenage years I'm sure.
It's really sad. This guy could have been one of the all time greats. It really sucks to see how the 1999 NBA Lockout ruined the careers of players like Kemp and Baker.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ~Fatality~:</div><div class="quote_post">So the guy smokes weed... big deal.</div> Well, it is a big deal. Sure, weed is relatively harmless, and I'm sure almost all of us have smoked it before, but we're not professional athletes, especially professional athletes trying to make comebacks and clean up their images. It seems like every year I read a new story about how Shawn Kemp has turned his life around, and then he gets arrested for something stupid. It could have just as well been heroin for all I care. The fact of the matter is that he's not clean and not focussed on basketball, and because of that, I highly doubt we ever see Shawn Kemp in an NBA uniform again.

Well the sad part is Shawn Kemp still can't overcome his vices, and I feel bad for his children. In the articles written about his comeback he said the main reason he wants to make a return to the NBA was to be a role model for his kids.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Shawn Kemp arrived at Green Lake Park on Sunday afternoon, smiling, shaking hands, hugging half the crowd gathered at the Battle of the Lake basketball tournament. This is the same man police arrested Friday morning in Houston for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. In his first public comments since the arrest, Kemp told The Seattle Times there was marijuana in his truck on Friday, but he claimed that he has not used drugs since April 2004. Kemp also said he would take a drug test anytime and that he still believes he can return to the NBA. </div> Source
Interesting to say the least. As cliche as it might be possession of marijuana doesn't mean he was using it. However having possession is bad enough for someone who is/was trying to make a comeback... and especially, as shapecity said, someone who was trying to be a rolemodel for his children.
This has to be the last straw. Wasn`t he on the road to making a comeback and putting all his drug use behind him? This really fouled up any chances of making an NBA team.
